Been a while since I've had an image like this on my feed! When an old friend calls you up to ask if you'll photograph their wedding at your favorite venue, how can you say no?! It was my pleasure to dust off my equipment and capture Jon and Satoko's dreamy Pippin Hill wedding last night!

I've put off making this post because, at first, it was just so raw and I didn't want to talk about it. But on what would've been his 12th birthday seemed like a good day to pay tribute to our sweet boy, Henry, that went to doggy heaven a few weeks ago. Henry was our first born and we treated him that way, at least until the human children came along. We got him at 8 weeks old just a few months after we got married so he's been with us through it all. Med school, residency, new houses, new jobs, new humans. He was a good boy and the house is a little too quiet with him gone.

We thought we had many more years with him. He was healthy as a horse until, suddenly, he wasn't. His health decline was quick and left us making the decision that every pet owner dreads. I never had pets growing up, so this was a new and traumatic territory for me. Thinking of his final days still brings tears to my eyes. We wish we had more time with you, Henry. Happy 12th birthday to our good boy.

A belated happy birthday to my big 5 year old! I suppose it's fitting that this post is late as that is the reality of a birthday 5 days before Christmas! My sweet James, you made me a mama 5 years ago and changed my life forever! You are smart, creative, independent, empathetic and kind. You love your family more than anything and have such a big heart. Watching you grow into your own independent human being is bittersweet as I'm so proud, but also feel you becoming more detached from me as you find your way in the world. We love you so much, our sweet baby James!
