Hannah and Eric’s Chicago June adventure was day to remember! 📸💕 From the University of Chicago to the Art Institute of Chicago and finally to their cozy home with Freya, every moment was filled with love. Despite the heat, they were adorable!

Also huge shoutout to them for allowing me to just hang out with them while my plane was delayed. Thank you two for making me feel so at home, and taking care of me with coffee and dinner. Cannot wait to see you in KC for your wedding day!

Oh my goodness I just realized I photographed Grace and Seth in late May and I’m just now sharing! So enjoy some spring blooms and beautiful greenery!

When I first met these two, I realized I had previously looked at Seth’s face before, in a wedding, in 2020. He was a groomsmen and was in a photo I featured in my portfolio for a long time! I didn’t know it until the day of our consult and I was like WAIT A SECOND I KNOW YOU! It was so easy to connect from there.

Something Grace told me that I resonated with was she wanted her photos to reflect, warm, comfort and cozy vibes. Which might as well be my own personal middle name. I knew we’d be a match. We had to pivot our original location when we found out there was a large convention outside but our backpack is definitely one of my favorite spots, and it was in walking distance!

The lighting was absolutely stunning at the Kaufman center to end our session. I’m really excited for Grace and Seth’s day. Everything they are planning is intentional and I’m honored to be chosen to photograph their day!

Hi! It's time for me to say hello and show my face. My hair is longer, I'm engaged and I have all new equipment. Also, I haven't outwardly said this. I get married...IN AUGUST.....OF THIS YEAR. Yeah. Like in two months. I guess I haven't really been yelling that out loud. But everyone asks who gets in front of my camera and I'm like...Oh yeah, it's like....soon! And then they ask me ALL the questions so, here's me saying it publicly.

I've been working a LOT since mid May and I'm ready for a lil bit of a shooting break to catch up a bit on sharing recent shoots via instagram and my website but also to prep for my own wedding.

I'm intentionally not shooting any weddings the entire month of July so I can get into the mind set that this wedding day is not my usual normal work routine. :) It's my OWN wedding.

Jared and Jacob hosted their beautiful wedding at their own home in their backyard surrounded by 50+ friends, family and their pup Jagger.

What I loved about this day was Jacob and Jared created a wedding entirely their way. They had a vision, and they did it. Thank you Jared and Jacob for allowing me to come to your home and document all your favorite people.

Also their pup Jagger was never far from them, and even took a little nap during their ceremony, but was the best host and definitely greeted everyone he walked by. Scroll to the end to see his adorable face

Katie and Josh brought their adorable pups Ava and Coco to their engagement session along with their contagious energy. They get married in November of this year and I am so grateful they found me to photograph their story.

Katie graduated from veterinary school last weekend (the same week as this shoot), and NOW they’re busy unpacking in their new home in Georgia this week. To say they’ve had a busy week is an understatement. I was so grateful they set aside the evening with me to drive out to KC (from K-State) and then DRIVE back the same night.

Katie and Jared Hutton are officially married! May 4th was the absolutely most perfect spring day we could have asked for. I was so lucky Katie and Jared asked me to document their day.
It was so hard to choose which images to share because there are just SO many I loved. Check out their stunning team below that made this all happen.

Awhile ago I posted on my Instagram stories how I wrote a 4 page essay on what I have learned about planning my own wedding has taught me. Well that blog post is live. It’s a small niche micro-wedding guide. I talk how Sean and I approached our wedding, what I’ve learned and how it’s affecting my business, how we’ve saved money and what we’ve done differently.

I’ve broken out of the box of how I shoot and approach new wedding clients. There’s been a process I’ve followed for a long awhile and it’s now time to branch out to serve my clients in a more customized way. I’m very excited for the year to come with my business.

But also. I am so excited to marry this man.

It’s when more emotions of your guests start to peer through and I get to capture the love your guests have for you two versus constantly capturing the love between the two of you. It’s something that can never be replicated and I’m honored to get to witness and capture it.

Walking into Swordfish Fish Tom’s I was not expecting for us to be greeted so warmly by the employees and customers in there. They all were so excited for Riley and Cooper.

This was after Riley and I attempted many times to contact local bars around the KC area that told us no, we could not shoot in there unless we paid a fee. It feels like more and more locations in the area are being barred from creatives and I fear that we will have no where else to go.

Here’s a couple things to consider when you walk into an establishment to take photos. Respect the business. I walked in, without a flash, without light stands, etc. It was just me and my camera. The area was dark but at least I wasn’t flashing bright lights to the other patrons just enjoying a drink. It also allowed me the opportunity to play with different shooting styles!

We also went during a time where it wasn’t totally packed, which allowed us some freedom to walk around.

Thank you Swordfish Tom’s for allowing us to come in, and use their really unique space for Riley and Cooper. You were so kind and gracious.

Channing and Nicole got married this past Saturday at the Station in Kansas City! What a perfect spring wedding. The people who surrounded them were just so happy for Chan and Nic. I swear I saw Nicole hug every single person, including myself about three times. ❤️❤️ The love was palpable from these two and I am honored to have documented their gorgeous day.

I’m really excited about this. I promise to not constantly be in your inbox. And I promise to organize it so that you will only get emails relevant to you. For instance, for all my past couples you won’t get emails talking about your upcoming wedding, but you will get emails announcing my mini-session dates. Or photographers, you will ONLY get emails relevant to my outsourcing services. Saturday I finally got to meet Jennifer and Andrew in person for their engagement session. The Nelson granted us gorgeous spring flowers. These two were SO much fun to photograph. Andrew claimed he hated getting his photo taken, but I beg to differ. Also, please note their dog Bruno. LOOK AT HIM.

If this is not the last day of “winter” then I will riot. Today’s temps remind of Aaron and Tass’ fall day. After they got married they wanted to take special pictures of just the two of them at Liberty Memorial. So we drove down there just after they were pronounced married. And it was COLD. We halfway ran doing all of these images. But, the COLORS WERE IMMACULATE and their happiness contagious.

WHOOPS, I definitely wrote a 4 page essay today about my current experience being a bride and wedding vendor in Kansas City. Definitely gonna have to proofread it before putting it on my website. BUT to give you a tease one the things that Sean and I opted not to do was having bridesmaids and groomsmen. I’ll get into decision on why when I post that blog.

But Kelsey wait, why are you showing us these badass ladies right here? Well, if I did have bridesmaids, I’d have three (and they know who they are). My inspiration for them would be like Tess’s girls right here. I love how they have different style dresses and I love how SASSY they are.

I’ve been relatively quiet on socials lately. There is a reason for it. One, I’m trying to finish up taxes. Two, my website is being transitioned over to a new host. Three, I’m trying to be more intentional with my social media posts. I don’t want to do a random caption and then think that’s enough for the day.
I decided the word “intentional” is going to be a big factor into everything I do within my business from now on. Why am I posting the things I am. Why am I sharing these specific images with you? What am I trying to tell you?

So, here is Gracie and Ashley. When I asked them what they wanted to do for their engagement session their immediate answer was getting pizza at Il Lazzarone. It’s where they had dinner the day Ashley proposed. This is a perfect example of what you can do for your engagement session that better encompasses YOU as a couple. There is no “right” way to have an engagement session. Whatever you want to do? Is the right way. ❤️

You guys, Daylight Savings is approaching. When I was out with Britton and Jordon last weekend it just reminded me that winter is almost over and we have made it. There will be longer days ahead of us and I am so excited for them.

Britton and Jordon get married in November of this year! I'm especially excited for their wedding because it'll be at Oakwood Country Club, a venue I've always wanted to shoot in AND they hired one of my favorite planner teams so I just know it's going to be fabulous.

Also, they were so GIGGLY and I THRIVE off giggles. So it wasn't too hard to get them used to my camera. :)

Last weekend I met up with Jacob and Jared at Union Station. We immediately connected when we initially met because their wedding day is unlike the traditional. They don’t have a wedding party. They’re getting married in their backyard with just close friends and family. They’re keeping it simple, and being true to themselves on what they want and I applaud them for doing so.

They were such a joy to hang out with and I can already tell their wedding day is going to be so fun and magical. Also, can we recognize they took me to a private Kansas City rooftop their friend’s mom owns? That view?! Holy wow.

There are SO many ways for me to capture your day and I do my best to encourage my couples to celebrate their day THEIR way versus the “conventional process” that everyone (family, vendors, and social media) expect, and push on you. Stick to your idea. Be intentional. It’ll be make your day all the more special.

I’ve been quiet on socials and it’s been on purpose as this last week has been a whirlwind! Shooting two beautiful engagements and tackling a large portion of my own wedding planning I needed a break. Also, I could NOT for the life of me figure out which image I wanted to share first uof Riley and Cooper becuase we had SUCH a fun shoot. So, I thought I’d share the fact they took me up in the new KC ferris wheel right at blue hour to end the session. There will be more from these two and I cannot wait for the October wedding.

I have so many fun things lined up for this month. I have a lot of fun blog posts ideas to write, I'm evaluating my branding, AND a new website design is in the works! All while trying to plan a wedding myself.

If you haven't noticed, I am doing a pure focus on color and joyful moments. Specifically true-to-color editing and lighting. As an engaged lady myself, I have realized that I am having a hard time finding someone who loves colors and joyful moments as much as I do. I'm all ears if you think we'd be a good match. Or I'm going to have to look into some cloning experiments. ;)

Jokes aside. February s turning out to be a good month to catch up on the backend of things in my business and I'm excited to see where it leads me.

Showing off Jeff and Jeff’s wedding this Wednesday. Recently they just reached out to start designing their wedding album AND they updated me that their historic kansas city home is in the stages of becoming a wedding venue this year! I’m so excited for them and I am stoked that I have the chance to photograph their beautiful home again in the future. :)
