What is Cell Phone Cinema? Cell Phone Cinema is an ode to the progeny of wireless telecommunication and a creative salute to the advancement of Graham Bell's innovation. CIFF aims at extending the opportunity of creating and capturing images and videos through the simple use of our everyday pocket companion, the cell phone. It marks the advent of a new form of creative expression, which is simple, basic, affordable and very convenient to use. While mobile phone users are long familiar with downloading ringtones, games, view mobisodes clips that play on a mobile phone's screen, they can now also make their own films with their personal mobile phones, and tell their own stories with their own voices freely. CIFF will provide its filmmakers with free editing software to be downloaded from its global website. Ciné-Phone filmmakers will have the unique opportunity to download the music for their films from the Music Lab without violating copyright rules. Through CIFF’s Casting Lab, filmmakers will also have access to a global data base of actors and actresses willing to be part of their film. The website will also have an online TV channel to play films produced by filmmakers using their cell phones. There are currently almost 4 billion mobile devices/screens in the hands of users globally, and these devices are evolving rapidly in terms of sophistication.
