We really wish this was an April Fool’s joke, but it’s not...Our southern shelter partners just took in 191 dogs from a single home. 💔 That number is not a typo.
And here’s the part that keeps us up at night: they were already completely full before these dogs arrived. When shelters are pushed past capacity like this, it can lead to some truly heartbreaking decisions.
Now you might be thinking “I live in New England…how does this impact me?!” Well, it impacts you more than you might realize!
Every single time we bring a dog up to Massachusetts, two lives are saved:
1️⃣ The dog who gets their fresh start up north
2️⃣ The dog who know has a safe space to land in a southern foster home
Right now, we have 20+ dogs already in MA and another 20+ waiting in southern foster homes, hoping for their chance to make the trip north. 🚐
We need to make space—and we need to do it FAST. Because every open foster home or dog that gets adopted here could be the difference between life and death for a dog we may never even meet. 🥺
So this is one of those moments where we really, truly need our community to show up.
➡️ If you’ve been thinking about adopting, this is the time. From puppies, to seniors and everything in between—your perfect match is just waiting to meet you! Learn more about all of our adoptables right on our website: browndogcoalition.com/adoptable
👉 Not ready to adopt? Fostering saves lives, too! We have dogs ready to come up soon, but without committed fosters, they have to stay behind…taking up much needed space that another dog in crisis desperately needs right now. Learn more about our foster program at: browndogcoalition.com/foster
We are feeling a bit helpless right now and want to do more for our southern partners. But we can’t do it alone! 🙏
