A Very French Wedding Wedding photographer South West France, the Dordogne and Charente. Over 15 years experience. I am easy going, good fun and enjoy making people laugh on the day.

Relaxed and informal wedding day story telling with Ian, a British photographer living in France. I have been a photographer for over 20 years, my style of photography is very relaxed and informal with no uncomfortable posing! I try to minimize the time I take the bride and the groom away form family and friends for the photographs, normally just two 20 minute sessions will be sufficient. I divide

my time between France and the UK and am happy to work in either country or further afield. Lets chat and discuss your plans to see if we might be a perfect fit. Ian

Excited to see the new book from Dick and Angel which I photographed over 12 months last year and this year hitting the shops in the UK. Based around each season, it is a mixture of gardening, craft and food and with a celebration taking place for every new season. It was an amazing job, working with two lovely and creative people, I can honestly say that after having tasting all of the food that we photographed (purely on a professional basis of course) that every recipe was amazingly tasty 😋

Anna gave Vicktor her new husband specific instructions on how to throw her veil into the air for the photograph, unfortunately he doesn’t quite get it right.
Doesn’t bode well when they get home and Vicktor has to load the dishwasher!!

Anna and Vicktor wanted to do something different when they were having their picture taken with their friends so decided it was best (and quicker!) if their friends came to them. So they had the idea of the both of them to be sitting down outside as friends offered their congratulations.
Immaculate planning by Kris in partnership with venue Chateau Glorieux

It is official, my last wedding of the season at the beautiful Chateau Glorieux here in the Dordogne. Anna and Vicktor travelled from Sweden to tie the know in this beautiful part of south west France.
They chose to do a “first look” before their wedding ceremony and it was a really emotional moment for both of them.
I love the idea of a “first look”, it gives the couple and the photographer some really quiet time to before the ceremony to capture some lovely unposed pictures. Planning Kris in conjuntion with music

Fhionna and Alex couldn’t have chosen a hotter day, it was certainly challenging when it came to the photography with Alex having to change shirts multiple times because of the heat!

The beautiful Chateau Charmant was the venue for Aimee and Greg to tie the knot on a hot summers day here in south west France. They danced, they laughed and boy did they enjoy themselves!
One of my favourite venues in this part of France. All pictures posted are from a real wedding.

Our Story

Hi, I am Ian the photographer behind A Very French Wedding and would describe myself as a lifestyle/editorial photographer. I am passionate about photography and couldn’t imagine doing anything else as a career. I live in South West France with my wife Louise and our two dogs Bosco and Enzo. I enjoy cycling the incredibly quiet roads of rural France, dreaming of a past career as a pro cyclist ( I wish ) and keep bees which supply me with enough honey for the year and plenty of presents for friends and family. I am also practicing my carpentry skills when I get the time. I have a very relaxed and informal style, am easy going, good fun and enjoy making people laugh. I divide my time between France and the UK and am happy to work in either country or further afield. Lets chat. Ian
