Twenty years ago this week, Massachusetts ruled in Goodrich that marriage was for all. Last night, I officiated at the wedding of two people who are near and dear to me. I wish them all the best! I can't think of a better way to celebrate 20 years of marriage equality.

This is the 20th piece of anti-LGBTQ legislation to come out of TN. They're "first" in the nation in passing this type of hate. It's hard to pass FL, but they seem to have managed it.

This piece of legislation was unnecessary. No minister must perform a marriage ceremony if it's against their beliefs. The purpose is hate and cruelty.

I don't discriminate when I accept the honor of marrying a couple. However, I hear their stories: the couple lectured about their marriage, the minister who ghosts them at the last minute, and the couple who cannot find anyone to marry them.

I'm proud of what I do.

Despite marriage equality being the law of the land with significant support, the GOP continues to try to legislate LGBTQ+ people out of society.

So every year on New Year's Day we have cabbage in the house. Supposedly it will make us richer, but that hasn't happened yet.
However, there's always hope!

It's a tradition in our family going back to my grandmother who used to make it every January 1st. I like to think that it makes me richer by remembering her and the others who aren't here to share it.

I got up at 4:55 today due to Archie, and then I saw in my memories that he did the same thing two years ago. Consistency and routine, I guess!

It's been 11 years since I got my officiant's license. I've enjoyed the > 150 couples I've married in that time-- and so many stories to tell from them.

Looking forward to more weddings in 2024!
