Take the best selection of your favourite things and allow the choice of Tapas or Ración to be a licence to try them all!! Smaller Tapas versions are incredibly generous and with the main plates also being of generous proportions the opportunity is to share.
The style of La Sartén de la Abuela is more restaurant than cafe, more brasserie than fine dining, more fun than serious, in fact, it is a comfort to eat here, a space that never feels unfriendly, inside a bustling energetic and bursting with flavour experience. This is a cool and relaxed restaurant with attentive, knowledgable and helpful staff.
Food on offer; Is all-round flawless, eating here is great and the price point is affordable meaning it can be your regular haunt and not just for a treat! Consistency is always key and this place never disappoints!
On offer from an extensive menu are what will be some personal faves but please try them all! So, where to start; From fresh Salads, crisp, tasty and satisfying that pack a punch, to creamy Blinis with rich Smoked Salmon, sweet and succulent Marinated Mackerel Fillets with Almonds and juicy Raisins, the sharp Tartar of fresh Tuna with Mango and Prawn Chips, locally sourced hams and rich cheeses. A super fave is the creamy Cheese Mousse with sweet Pears and crunchy Almonds. Pancakes oozing with Prawns in a creamy Spinach Sauce. Fishy treats of Tempura Battered Prawns and everyones choice, the garlic and sizzle of Pil-Pil, succulent Mini Hamburgers, spicy potatoes and more!
Bigger Plates: From the Sea; Delicate, gently battered rings of Calamares with a smooth saffron Alioli, roasted Octopus, generous with its luxurious pink textured flesh contrasted against the slate grey of the plates and grilled to perfection, presented with Baby Potatoes, Green Peppers and a Chipotle Sauce. The tastebud popping Tataki Tuna served with Seaweed and Mango and succulent, moist Salmon with an Orange Emulsion, steamy exotic Couscous and Sautéed Veg.
Bigger Plates: From the Land; Braised Lamb off the bone is simply heavenly, with a rich dark gravy, incredible and generous "Patatas Pobre", melt in the mouth sweet Onions and Peppers. A local favourite the Iberian sweet Pork Steaks, flambéed with Potatoes, Cherry Tomatoes and Peppers. The amazing and perfectly cooked Duck Breast, with an incredible Pumpkin Mash and Ginger Jelly, is suitable for any Winter plate and the BBQ Ribs with Fries are to die for too! Comfort Food not Fast Food!
Top Tip!! Always make room for Dessert; There is an amazing selection of “sweet things” to choose from; Exotic Black Rice Pudding, made with Coconut Milk and sweet Pineapple, the rich but not over sweet White Chocolate Mousse with sharp Raspberry Coulis, a beautiful Blueberry dressed Cheesecake and a rich and decadent Chocolate Brownie with Toffee and Ice-Cream.
Coffee is seriously good too!!
Not forgetting the younger family members there is a perfectly adequate and fairly priced Children's Menu available, offering all their favourites, so no arguments there!
