This rear view mirror isn’t always my view.
There’s often a car seat with a smiley blue eyed blonde hair boy. I pass back snacks, toys and water cups. I sing silly songs and we dance to our favorite tunes.
My weekends don’t look as busy and rushed as they used to. A slow Saturday morning sipping coffee watching Howard play farm on the living room floor, is a new dream I never knew I wanted.
Then the weddings come and go, and I remember how much I love this view. The flowers. The couples. The love. The joy.
It’s a great joy and privilege to have both kinds of weekends. I never imagined slowing down in the business so much that I could savor both. Weddings and mothering.
Thank you for being here so I can enjoy both.

I never thought I’d drive a mini van.
And as I spend Saturday taking out a car seat, picking up books and balls, to make room for flowers, I smile.
What a gift to be able to do both.
Mother and flower.
There are days I find myself immersed in the flowers, and the next I’m at the playground chasing a blonde haired boy.
Both of these jobs are important to me.
Flowers for your life’s special events, and spending time watching Howard grow.
I catch a glimpse of my old self, smiling in the rear view mirror while I drive home from a wedding with empty buckets and dirty hands.
Then, I see Howard in that same rear view mirror and smile.
So much joy in this van.
Thanks for supporting Sweet Beets so I can do my most important work. 👶🏼💐

Our clients have never been so sweet! We are so thankful for their well wishes, cards and gifts. 🥺
I’m so thankful for the all the kind words and support as we welcome this next season of life.
This event season will be a bit (a lot) different then the last but we’re so excited!
Our consultations are winding down as I am stepping away from work.
If you inquire, expect a delay in response time. I will be responding to emails once a week on Tuesday’s.
Our 2023 calendar opens July 11 and we will resume consultations then!

I know how hard it is to chase your dreams.
I know how hard it can be when people underestimate you.
I know how hard it can be to show up every day and continue to sell and market your services.
And in the world of hustle culture, it tells us to continue to show up on social media. (even though that is exhausting during these times)
Our newsfeeds are full of so many emotions it may feel stale to post about your business.
Do it anyway.
You must continue to show up.
You need to continue to sell.
You need to continue raising your prices.
This is how you will continue to grow.
Don’t slow down now.
I know you’re tired.
I know the last two years have tested each and every one of us. It’s pulled, and stretched and exhausted us.
But you’ve grown and learned so much.

I swoon over your engagement pictures and I smile when you send me your save the date.
I get teary-eyed when you include a note that says “I can’t wait to see what you create” with your deposit.

In 2018 I applied for a job as a floral designer.
The job that required a weekly 165 mile commute.
That’d mean time away from Josh, family and friends. I’d be gone Wednesday - Saturday for months.
Oh and I’d need a place to live up there... in Northern Michigan.
Josh and I looked at travel trailers and camping spots. I'm talking, traveled all over the state for RV dealers and really rustic camping spots. (Even considered someone’s backyard as a camp spot)
And then I found an apartment, and things fell into place.
I took the job and flowered May - November that year.
I was committed to this weird nudge I had in my heart. I felt called to the flowers.
And today, I’m still just as committed as ever and really glad we never bought a travel trailer. 😂
I’m Sam and I believe you can really live out your wildest dreams.
I know because I’m living mine.

We put up the last piece of tin, and that was the cheesiest and most meaningful thing I could write.
We put up the last piece of tin and sat on our Case IH barstools, cracked a couple beers and turned down the radio.
I shed a couple tears of joy and Josh said, “This is just the beginning.”
And it was.
Reminiscing all the flowers that have been through here.
Wedding days we’ve been a part of.
Freelancers who’ve worked alongside me.
Late nights and early mornings.
Busch Lights and iced coffees.
But it all brings me back to those cold winter days in 2019 when it was just us, a few beers and a dream.
