A little about us and our Vision:
Taliesin Fest creates an opportunity for progressive-minded people to come together and enjoy a weekend of music, art, and education. But, at heart, it is the start of a much larger and more ambitious project that has grown to encompass a vision of building community on a grassroots level. This is done through free thought, artistic expressi
on, and an open-minded approach to fostering cooperation and positive change, socially, environmentally, and technologically. Simply put, Taliesin Fest embodies a belief in the power of individuals working, thinking, and imagining collaboratively; creating transformative initiatives that benefit the greater good, locally, nationally, and, in time, globally. With an eye toward the future, and a determination to lay a firm and lasting foundation, Taliesin Fest has centered its mission on an event that is both a music and arts festival, and an opportunity for community members, local businesses, and regional academic institutions to forge synergy through diversity. The festival will essentially constitute a common ground where artistic expression, entrepreneurial enterprise, and thoughtful discourse can all take root and thrive, a cerebral yet pragmatic celebration of human potential. Along with providing a stage for performances by the best regional and national musicians and DJs, Taliesin Fest is aiming to launch a broad spectrum of community based initiatives, centered on the pressing issue of sustainability. Permaculture, organic farming, alternative energy sources, and the challenge of maintaining and even improving our quality of life without inflicting harm on the planet are just some of the concerns the festival will actively address, through lectures, workshops, and hands-on activities. Ultimately, as the festival itself grows, Taliesin Fest hopes to become a permanent resource in the Central Virginia community, functioning as a nexus for green initiatives, local business development, and artistic expression among people of all ages. The conversations that begin at Taliesen Fest will be encouraged to continue long into the future, creating a word-of-mouth infrastructure for the betterment of the local community and the world beyond. Revenue from these festivals will be used to purchase land in which we will construct a self-sustained community on 200-1000 acres within one of the surrounding Counties. Our village will become an educational facility of sorts for local businesses, colleges, universities, and entrepreneurs to work on and discuss some of the pressing issues of today such as sustainability, small-scale farming, ecology, alternative energies, and environmentally friendly construction.
