Once upon a time, many years before the Orkney Blues Festival started, there was an annual event called.... The Orkney Blues Festival. No-one really knows who was to blame but the name 'Simmonds' has been whispered in dispatches. Following a few gallus phone calls and some judicious blackmailing of the bank manager, it was up and running a mere six weeks later. A mouthful of teething troubles wer
e quickly filled or extracted and over the ensuing years the monster we created managed to entice the likes of Tony 'TS' McPhee, Steve Gibbons, Dr Feelgood, Albert Lee and Peter Green across the water. We did get a few knock backs along the way, memorably Jools Holland, Southside Johnny and Robert Palmer. Buy me a Babycham sometime and I'll tell all. Anyway, the 2005 festival culminated in a sell out performance by the British Blues All Stars. Job done, we exited stage left to rapturous applause. Since then we've continued to operate but at a more sedate pace, commensurate with our advancing years. The gigs may have been fewer but the standard has been higher than ever. Some names you will know. Others you will simply never, ever forget! Pat McManus Band, Sinnerboy, Skinny Molly, The Trevor Burton Band, Elliott Morris, Nine Below Zero, Independence, Rory MacLeod, The Paul Rose Band, Estrella, Alan Nimmo (before he became King), Roy Mette, Jeff Jolly, Dave Arcari (playing his Nikon), The Charlie Morris Band, Classic Clapton, The Spikedrivers, Rev Doc & the Congregation, Dave 'Bucket' Colwell, The Hokum Hotshots, Steve Arvey, The Hangover Blues Band, Blues' n' Trouble, Independence, Lewis Hamilton, Roost, Connie Lush and many, many more. Aye, there was a right few good nights amongst that lot. But you already know that as you were there.... right?

We're gutted about this but I guess that's Rock n Roll.
FLY THE FLAG - the new album from Hardwicke Circus
‘Produced by Stiff's Dave Robinson and with guests Earl Slick and Terry Edwards, the Carlisle quintet's second album rocks Dexys-level dynamism: Motown dancers, E Street shuffles, baritone ‘bom boms’, stirring brass and ballads laced with romance and humour’. MOJO Magazine ☆☆☆☆

Ah yes. A sentiment often ignored but still very relevant each and every day. I so wish Stiff Records were still releasing bold, innovative records.
Well, Dizzy Lizzy you delivered once again! Thanks so much for a terrific show with more highlights than a Love Island contestant's head! Do please come back again soon.
Two Irishmen, a Scotsman and and American walk into a theatre..... and sample the fruits of Detroit's finest songwriter.
Thin Lizzy - RosalieEnjoy!
Hear this and all the others. Next Saturday @ Stromness Town Hall.

Not often you see backline like this in Stromness Town Hall. This is going to be a heckuva Rock show next Saturday night! I do love a bit of twin guitar, and you really can't go wrong with the THIN LIZZY songbook.

Blue Minneck! Once upon a time, we were involved with a Blues Festival Festival. However, that particular dalliance ended (triumphantly) in 2005. Eighteen years ago people! And yet, the correspondence keeps a comin'. It's nice to feel wanted......
So. Which King will you be swearing allegiance to this weekend?
I suspect Freddie may be 'Hiding Away' in the Frantic household tonight.
ARE YOU READY? Tickets on sale now for DIZZY LIZZY @ Stromness Town Hall. Saturday July 22nd. www.ticketsource.co.uk/frantic-music-orkney
We are delighted to let you know that the Boys are back in Town! Yup, the wonderful DIZZY LIZZY will be blowing the roof off Stromness Town Hall on Saturday July 22nd for a night of Riffy, Rocky revelry! They went down a storm at the Orkney Theatre last year so let's see how Stromness compares. Tickets on sale now @ www.ticketsource.co.uk/frantic-music-orkney or from Sinclair Office Supplies.
Another legend who came up to play and made our day...twice in fact (2006 & 2017). Were you at either of these shows?
One of these men performed a show in Orkney for Frantic Music. Very happy memories.
Heartfelt thanks to those of you who came out to support live music in 2022. We very much hope you enjoyed the Frantic shows which included Dizzy Lizzy, The Warner E. Hodges Band, Ryan Hamilton and Hardwicke Circus. We're looking forward to seeing the sublime Andy Fairweather-Low on TV tonight whilst remembering his appearance at Stromness Town Hall with the Low Riders a few years back.
Appreciative thanks from all at Frantic HQ to everyone who braved the Stromness weather to share their evening with Hardwicke Circus. The boys are currently slithering their way back towards the warmth of Hadrian's Wall but thoroughly enjoyed their latest trip and have threatened us with a rematch in 2023. But the question is: Was that 'do***ng' or 'dodging'? Think I'll just park that there.
An extra attraction at tonight's HARDWICKE CIRCUS show at Stromness Town Hall, we have a wonderful, unique raffle prize courtesy of the talented Colin Kirkness - a Hardwicke Circus whisky barrel stave wall clock. Do you feel lucky? This could be your time!
The stage is set for Hardwicke Circus. Hearing sensational reports about last night's show at Backstage@Kinross.
They've played Hyde Park.
They've played the Glastonbury Festival.
Tomorrow night they're playing Stromness Town Hall.
You are in for a real treat.
Let's see if we can make them smile.
Nice flurry of ticket sales over the weekend. Have you got yours yet? HARDWICKE CIRCUS @ STROMNESS TOWN HALL Saturday December 17th. The Glastonbury organisers know a good band when they hear one!
