Meet Andy Wonder, He is the President of the NZ chapter of the IBM - International Brotherhood of Magicians. A group that Api is dedicated to supporting Magicians worldwide.

Andy and the IBM are great supporters of the mahi Api is doing with Tangata Tumatarau, this was the first time that Andy and Api had met kanohi ki te kanohi, and so they had a neat little magic jam session.

Earlier this year Tangata Tumatarau went to Tamaki Makaurau and caught up with SOL3 MIO & NZTrio ahead of a concert they were due to have in August. Unfortunately they have had to delay the concert until March 2021 so fans will have to wait a bit longer to hear them live in concert again.

So here is a little clip to keep all of you SOL3 MIO and NZTrio fans happy.

Today Tangata Tumatarau meets up with King Kapisi after his recent trip to Tāmaki Makaurau. King Kaps is a Welli native starting his Hip Hop Journey in Lyall Bay, so it was great for Api to wananga with his PI brother from another mother.

Tangata Tumatarau was invited to perform at a Rongoa Maaori event at Orongomai Marae, Upper Hutt, There are many parrallels between what Api does with his tinihanga, many of his guests say that the experience was like Rongoa for their Wairua.

While in Tamaki Makaurau Te Tangata Tūmatarau got to meet up with Stacey Morrison he wahine rongonui ia. She is a passionate advocate for Te reo Māori, a Mother, Broadcaster, and succesful businesswoman. We were thankful to have some time out of her busy schedule for some tinihanga and korero.

I have always been fascinated with the world of magic and growing up in Wainuiomata we were not exposed to much magic, however being raised by my grandparents playing with cards were the normal. We played cards in all occasions and at every location. From a wedding to a tangi, from a kitchen table to the marae, a putu kari came in handy.

I have never seen a magic trick performed in Te Reo Maori and thought to myself “why not, do that?” All the memories of playing cards with our kui and koro came back as well as the conversations they had in te reo maori.

Today, all of these things have created a unique act to share with you all, using a Te Ao Maori based structure showcasing the world of magic and cardistry.
