So my college kid, aka Costume Padawan, and I worked on two projects for her over the summer. (Late posing, I know)
She did fabulous creating her Barbie Pauper costume as well as helping me create her PoisonIvy look!
I can't wait to see pictures of her with her friend as Barbie later this month!

Here is a little "throwback Thursday" from two years ago.
I worked on some short legs for a high school theater Shrek production. This was my second time working on a Shrek show but my first time making Farquads short little legs. So fun and made me giggle throughout the process! 😂
Luke had the honor of modeling them for me. 😊

Well my Victorian Pr******te is off with her many friends to her intended high school one act play cast in TX! I so wish I got more pics of the other costumes before I shipped them out but my nose was in the sewing machine sewing to meet today's shipping deadline! Hopefully I'll get some tags from cast members! 🤞

These costumes were lucky enough to bum a ride as checked luggage from a friend visiting us! Definately helped this theater programs' budget!

UGH!!! Curse words!
Literally 5 min into using my brand new Rowenta iron, I ironed fusible interfacing upside down! I had glue melted all over my new iron 😭. Interfacing is my nemesis!
(I only got out the new iron for this because the large steam holes on my old "back up" iron was leaving press marks on the front of my velvet pieces. )
But thanks to the English Lady's hack on YouTube, my iron is like new again. Whew! All is well again. (Hope I didn't disturb the neighbors!)

Now maybe the hack will clean up my old 'back up" iron????

My iron died a few days ago. ☹️. But the upside is that I get a NEW one! Trying it out today, so far so good!

Drove an hour to pick up some custom drapes a lady was getting rid of. So glad I did! The fabric (stripe) ended up being perfect for that one fabric I could find! Better than the solid golden brown I was planning to use! This Victorian Era pr******te is shaping up! Two more items to make for her than I'm done!

Just a tip for others that sew.....not the best idea to set your snack bowl of pretzels next to your container of pins. 😉. Good thing I didn't try to eat any pins! 😂

I don't know a Victorian era pr******te personally but if I was one, I'd wear miles of crimson ruffles!

Excuse the blending of characters, but this Fairy Godmother transformed Emma into Anna for this Halloween!

If you are local to Snoqualmie, WA, be sure to have your little tricksters stop by the Snoqualmie Falls Candy Shoppe during the Triple Treat Trek to pick up their treat.....and maybe a little "frozen" dessert for yourself!

Bonus points if your kids can get her to sing!
Do you wanna build a snowman?

So if anyone has wonders why I haven't been cranking out the costumes during this quarantine...this is why. My sewing table has been claimed! 😞

As you may realize most of my costumes have yards and yards of fabric involved so sewing at my small round breakfast table is a challenge!

I hope to be able to get back to the grind soon. Maybe relocate Adrian to a closet! Ha!

Just waiting for the zipper to arrive in the mail and a hem!
And possibly trim? Watch for my next post for your chance to cast your opinion!!

So....My current project is being put on hold. I've discovered that the gold fabric I am using for the skirting "stripes" is very weak and is pulling at the seam. I will have to reinforce it. But since we are snowed in, I can't get out to get more interfacing or whatever I decide to use.

If you haven't guessed the character yet, this is the Costume Clothier's interpretation of Anna's coronation dress. (Frozen)...I think the weather put me in the mood! 😆. I've incorporated two small corset areas for a little bit of size flexibility and will add a separating zipper in the back for easy onstage dressing as the stage version goes.

On to the next project, young Anna!

How the dream began...

Seven years ago my daughter jumped into a community youth theater production where I volunteered and made only a HAT! That experience sparked a desire for costume design & creating! Since that show, one or both children involved in a theater show has allowed me to do just that...design and create costumes

Since we have recently moved to the Pacific Northwest, there has been little need for me volunteer and my kids have been less involved in the theater world. Soooo.....the in comes the idea for The Costume Clothier!

I have not fully “launched” the business but will be busy creating inventory for the big launch coming Fall 2019! I’ll be posting here many pictures and details of the process! But I am still open for commissioned costumes that I may be able to add to the inventory so if you have a need, contact me! Texas Renaissance Festival, school theater, community theater, Halloween, costume parties....you name it. I’d love to costume you!
