Here's something about tomorrow's trips at IRM.

Friday, August 30th will have Atchison Topeka and Santa Fe 92 as the power for the coach train. Santa Fe 92 is an EMD FP45 built in 1967 and has a 20 cylinder 3600 horsepower engine. Trip times are planned at 11am, 1pm, and 3pm, with electric cars running at 12pm and 2pm.

As of today, our generous donors have raised $23,110 towards the $30,000 needed to cover the purchase and relocation of our new powercar. We cannot thank you all enough for your generosity. The powercar is set to move to HVRM very soon, but additional funds are still needed to cover the relocation costs. Once the powercar arrives at HVRM, fundraising will continue through the fall for parts and supplies needed to return the car to service as well as fit our current coach, Long Island #2937, with the necessary equipment to receive and pass power onto other cars in our train.

Here is a Northern Pacific passenger train crossing the Mississippi River sometime between 1965 after 3 piers had to be reinforced due to scouring and before the North Coast Limited was merged into Amtrak. (picture was enhanced to bring out the Lowey color scheme. Original pic appeared to be somewhat overexposed)

Some former members of the club took the rails yesterday … the first part of the trip involves listening to the Midwest Rail Rangers narrate on the South Shore Line between Chicago and Hudson Lake, IN.

This 1941 ad for the Electro Motive Corporation model FT is shared herein. The FT was the first production diesel locomotive aimed at road freight service; a while before this ad the No. 103 demonstrator set had made a nationwide tour. This model had a single V-16 567 powerplant of 1350HP in each unit. Four units had 5400HP.
