Black Pop Culture Expo The convention where all the contributions that Black people make to US Culture is recognized: Comic books, Movies, Television, Novels, Music, Dance.

By Us For Us Buy Us

It is important that Black people control their resources. Too often we give money to entertainment industries that deny our stories, deny our truth and even deny our basic humanity. To this end We should have all the Black Creators in one convention. Books, Comic Books, Cosplayers, Music, Movies, Television, Theatre -- an open marketplace of Blackness. We should have Black c

hildren cosplay as Black superheroes and Black parents not ashamed for their daughters to dress up. We should have workshops and services available so we can learn to increase our wealth -- investment firms, banks; Workshops to improve our health: doctors not beholden to the drug industry, dieticians and chefs. Schools that teach all of the above and more, so we can direct our children to the knowledge they need to move this vision forward. Comic book creation being a driving force in entertainment. We should be gathering all the Black Self Publishers in one place for the Black buyers to see their wares, make their connections, break from the comic book shop model and buy direct from the creators. To investors comic books are low cost experiments in telling the story, creating a fan base, and learning your audience. To Black Hollywood find new material, connect with new fresh creators, find ground breaking projects, or fund the development of a personal project. To book authors explore the new art form: Graphic Novels. Done on a scale that is plausible and possible, expanding your fan base. To fans find and support your Black creators. Read stories where we are the heroes, stories that don't marginalize us or that are tone deaf to our situations.
