Hi My name is Mary Jo Mattern and I am the owner of Flowers by MJ. I have been in the floral industry since 2004. My mom Patricia Erna Haase passed away on March 9th, peacefully surrounded by her family.

Mom, I’m thankful for the time we had together - you taught me so much. I will miss you everyday!
I will miss your humor, honesty, ability to figure out how to do just about anything and your compassion.
You shared her love of flowers and plants with me - I’m thankful for the time we had at the flower shop, and the silly conversations we had everyday (tall pants, Apple stealer-IYKYK). Thank you for doing all of the corsages and bouts for all of the weddings I sold.

You shared your love for birds with all of us, ( chickadee - dee-dee) and you were a talented artist.

Thank you for buying Krista Haasebowe and I gifts with your birthday money from Erna and for always having a $50 tucked away in your wallet.

For coming to everyone of my soccer games.

I hope your kicking butt at Five Crowns and listening to 60s on 6.

My Journey

Hi My name is Mary Jo Mattern and I am the owner of Flowers by MJ. I have been in the floral industry since 2004. Throughout my career I have helped hundreds of brides choose just the right flowers for their special day, assisted nervous high school boys choose just the right prom corsage and assisted many husbands pick out that special bouquet for their lovely lady. When you trust me to prepare the flowers for your special occasion you have the confidence the work will be completed by myself. I am the owner and designer. I currently work out of my home in beautiful Holly Springs.

What I love about being a florist: I love the opportunity to wow my clients and it gives me an outlet to share my creativity. I also love educating clients on flowers, the care and handling and sharing design ideas.

A little about me: I started my floral career in Wisconsin in 2004, quickly moving my at home business in to a retail location specializing in weddings and events. Over my career I've assisted over 500 brides with flowers for their special day. My husband and I owned the retail store until 2010. We decided to sell the store shortly after our children, Paige (10 yrs) and Nathan (14 yrs) were born. In 2016 we moved our family to beautiful Holly Springs, NC. Once we settled in to the community I knew I wanted to share my passion for flowers with the community.

I would love to share my passion with flowers and design with you. Please feel free to text, call or email with any questions you have. When you book your event with me you will receive superior service because I only take on one client at a time.
