Today marks 5 years since I started playing records out in public. It’s been one hell of a journey from that first underprepared night at Full Pint! It’s truly amazing to think back to all of the places I’ve had the chance to spin at over the years—Full Pint Wild Side Pub, Dee’s Cafe, Spring Hill Brewing, Hard Rock Cafe, Brillobox, Kelly’s Lounge, Howlers, Belvederes, Spirit, Trace Brewing, Tiki Lounge, Cocktails From the Crypt, Whisper Nest, Thunderbird, Grist House, Cousin’s Lounge, Fermata Brewing, Inner Groove, the Government Center, Showtime in DC, Millvale Days and other assorted festivals, a couple weddings for friends… I can’t thank all of the managers and booking folks who have been kind enough to take a chance on me and let me do my thing. Even more thanks to everyone I’ve had the privilege of spinning with, both veterans and newbies—I’ve learned from you all! And the most thanks to everyone—partners, friends, acquaintances, and strangers—who have come out to one of my little nights. Watching people enjoy music that I’ve curated is still one of the best feelings ever, and I’m excited for what the future holds! I’m a small fish in this Burgh bowl, but happy to be swimming!

Delighted to announce that I’ll be pushing the platters that matter .brewing next Friday, July 7th, for their second installment of Funk Me Up, Fam! If you haven’t been to Coven yet, expect an amazing assortment of flavor-forward brews specializing in IPAs and sours that can’t be missed! And I’ll be spinning tunes to compliment these funky beers to get you on the floor and grooving! Raw 60s funk, raunchy 70s p-funk, smooth 80s r&b funk—all will get a workout so come on down and check it out that evening until 11pm. And no cover, so you can’t lose!

Save the date for April 23rd as Tiki Lounge bids farewell to the one and only James Morrow! If you’ve been to Tiki at some point in the past 16 years, it’s likely James mixed up one of the amazing tiki drinks you got! (We can go back even further to the Upstage at Laga days—remember those Red Deaths?!?!) He’s moving on but we’re celebrating with one last blowout! Local surf luminaries The Boss Stingrays, who have graced the stage among others, will be playing and I’ll be keeping things waxed down in between with plenty ‘o platters of surf rock, garage, lounge, and other sounds to hula by! Cover is only $3, so bust out the boards and catch a wave down to the South Side!

Accordingly, this Factory will be super-sized to accommodate all of the styles, tunes, moods, and deep cuts that the occasion calls for. You know what the drill is—not limited to just Factory bands, just spinning all of the best post-punk and synthpop out there. Please join me and as we bid farewell to the Nest in the only way we know how—celebrating music, dancing, life, and the groove. As always, no cover and be sure to tip your bartenders well to thank them for making the Nest such a welcoming and fun place to spend time with friends in.
