About the DJ behind BEACHBAR SWING (Part 2):
way before the radio show DJ days, Cody was into the drums
"Mr Cullen, the music teacher at Moruya High would give us one or two minutes each on the drums during free expression time. We'd all line up and have a bash as much as we could before the next kid kicked us off haha. I really hung out for those couple of minutes".
A few years later he got his first drum kit, a basic beginner setup to practise on. "I saved up and got some better skins and a ride cymbal from planet TX Music, back when it used to be in the arcade near the video shop. that kit was a great start and i loved it"
Cody has also done some singing for bands and plays a bit of guitar at home, but it's drumming that has been a solid influence in his musical interests, and he's even been giving drum lessons for other people keen on getting into it. For BEACHBAR SWING sets, Cody has been exploring traditional ethnic hand percussion from all over the world "I'm really stoked to be able to incorporate live drumming stuff into my DJ sets these days, it's loads of fun and feels like an even more engaging performance, people seem to really respond well to it"

DJing at NRMA Murramarang Beachfront Holiday Resort today as part of their Camp Quality Campout For Kids fundraiser.
Loads of great feedback on my set and more money for kids and their families who need a hand, so a positive day for everyone.
Shoutout to resort staff who did a great job running the event too✌️
