Sir Roger Corman you were a knight in my eyes and a Role model to me. There is no other human I know who has poured their life into films, educating and entertaining millions, and encouraging thousands than the incomparable Roger Corman. Roger, you stand above us all and will forever be a guiding light for me. Your mentorship, the films we were to produce, and your guidance to me and with BIFF, this is really hard to imagine that you are not among us, a fairy tale for me, and of course your amazing Julie and family, thought you were going to be here forever. Until we see you again. LOVE YOU ROGER

Thank you to the Mortimer Family for being the best supporting sponsor the Bahamas International Film Festival could ever have. We became a family in 2004, the first year of the Bahamas International Film Festival. At the helm of it all was Chris Mortimer owner of Galleria Cinema a sponsor, collaborator, and above all a friend. Chris, you did so much that many could never accomplish, you were a dreamer and made your dreams a reality, you believed in the arts, supported artists financially, and produced films in The Bahamas and elsewhere. I am loss for words but all I can say is thank you for you, your time, your infectious energy, your love for your country, and to be all that you can be, most people rarely accomplish what you have. Your mother, sisters, and family I am so happy to have bonded with and I will continue on your legacy with the support you gave to Bahamian Cinema. Thank you, Chris, for suggesting your sister Paulette Mortimer be the 2023 BIFF Festival Assistant, she is the best! Your family is so close and the faith is so strong and I know you will continue to guide and protect them from afar. Rest in Peace my dear friend Chris Mortimer and founding partner.

Roya, In a province in Afghanistan, life goes on much as it has for centuries. While the international newspapers focus on the wars and the o***m trade, villagers go about their daily lives -- farming, practicing their religion, and raising their children. This is the story (based on actual events) of two families, who are bound by a tragic sense of honor and tradition, which leads to a bloody feud.

Reconnecting with my family after a decade abroad, I found inspiration in the cherished memories of our South of France vacations. These idyllic childhood summers led me to create Frederic's story, illustrating his determination to provide the same experiences for his son.

BIFF is thrilled to announce the recipient of this year’s Sir Sidney Poitier Tribute Award, .

Morgan Freeman is one of the most respected actors in American cinema. With a long and varied career that includes films like “The Shawshank Redemption”, “Driving Miss Daisy” and “Lean On Me”, his recognizable voice and authoritative demeanour have captured audiences for decades.

Sir Sidney Poitier himself said of Freeman, “he infuses the characters he plays with a real life, three-dimensional aura.”

We are honoured to welcome Mr. Morgan Freeman in person to and look forward to celebrating his vast body of work.

🎞 One of the many incredible short films premiering at BIFF 2023: ✨ALMA, a recently adopted 8-year-old refugee from El Salvador, spends a day preparing for her first red carpet appearance at an awards show with her new pop star mother, YAHAIRA. She learns from example and mirrors a series of routines as she absorbs that perhaps to cement her place in this new like she must be "liked" in more ways than one. As she takes in her new environment, she finds herself haunted by whispers of the life she left behind and awakened to the fragility of her new one after an innocent series of actions and encounters with her newfound fans on social media doesn't go as planned.✨
