nearly 10 years after same-sex marriage became legal in the US, planning a wedding as a member of the lgbtqia+ community is still uniquely challenging. from knowing which vendors are supportive of your union, to the heteronormative traditions still deeply engrained in Pinterest imagery, vendor inquiry forms, ceremony script language, etc, to the increasingly emboldened bigots spewing hateful rhetoric - what should be a joyful time is often much more stressful and nuanced for nearlyweds who don't fit the cishet mold.
as a member of the community I am proud to be an unequivocal supporter and advocate for change so that one day soon, all nearlyweds can feel represented and supported in their wedding planning process.

This weekend was one for the books. I got to model my own wedding gown designs alongside my bestie @model.cjhoward in the incredibly beautiful #gardenofthegods. I *always* prefer to stay behind the scenes, but there was something so empowering about stepping outside my comfort zone and modeling the gowns I created to help other plus size brides have a better wedding dress shopping experience than I did. I'd like to think the younger version of me would be proud 🥲 sharing this experience with Cierra and my mom (our very helpful assistant) is something I will treasure forever.
