The January ceilidh was packed full of talent as we welcomed piper Felix Hughes to open the show. Felix has played at the Carnegie Hall and Ovo Hydro and we’d love to have him back!

Our Fear an Taighe was Danny MacRae, originally from Harris now living in Connel who told us some very amusing wee stories!

Our Isla Sinclair Dancers were Taynuilt sisters, Olivia and Sophie Parr. They danced to the Alasdair Gillies song ‘Let’s have a cèilidh’ which was so enjoyable.

Our singers were Jaime McIntyre, Lyle Kennedy and Kerrie Kennedy.

Andrew MacDonald entertained us on the accordion with foot tapping jigs and beautiful Gaelic waltzes. From Lochaber, Andrew is now living in Barcaldine.

Neil Wood from Glasgow who is doing a PhD at the Conservatoire played Clàrsach including a favourite tune ‘Sitting in the Stern of a Boat’ as well as an amazing tune he composed at age 12.

Thank you to all who performed and assisted us at another great Taynuilt Ceilidh!

On a starry starry night during Winter Festival season the hall was busy and everyone was looking forward to an another night of great entertainment at the Taynuilt Ceilidhs! It was really great to have so many youngsters performing and seeing what a wealth of talent we have in the area from our young musicians. Our performers tonight were piper and singer Libby Bezuidenhout, sister Cara who sang and brother Calum who recited a poem. Three stars in one family! Then we had Lily Robertson who sang beautifully as well as Euan Paterson, the singing firefighter back from more Mòd success! Kenna Ferguson danced so beautifully for us and it was a treat to see the Oban High School Trad band. On pipes and whistles were Mark Hewitt and Euan MacCracken, Morven Cruickshanks was on piano and singers were Rose MacInnes and Lily Robertson along with fiddler Finlay Wilson. The boys also entertained us on the pipes afterwards. The usual fantastic tea and cakes were on offer in the interval. Thanks to all who helped to make it another wonderful night especially our lovely Bean an Taighe Morag MacNeil. And on this night we remembered our dear friend Helen Pearson who supported our ceilidhs so often and who spread so much kindness to so many in our community. Next stop: Christmas Ceilidh 🎅
