said it best in her recent Convening Leaders Houston keynote—There’s something powerful about being with people who just get it. No need to explain the daily grind or the challenges, because everyone’s been there. It’s these connections that keep us grounded and help us push through the tough times. Or in her exact words, there is value in “...𝘨𝘦𝘵(𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨) 𝘵𝘰𝘨𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘥𝘰𝘯’𝘵 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘦𝘹𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘨𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘥𝘢𝘺 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘫𝘰𝘣. 𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘪𝘴 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘥 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘥𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦𝘴. 𝘞𝘦 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘯𝘦𝘶𝘳𝘰𝘣𝘪𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘨𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘥𝘸𝘪𝘳𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰𝘨𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳.”
That’s exactly why we’re so excited for our first meeting of the year taking place next week in Switzerland. Sure, getting together in person 3+ times a year takes a lot of time and effort (not to mention budget), but it’s worth every bit. These meetings are where we reconnect, refocus, and recharge as a network.
In a world where it’s easy to feel disconnected (more on this later...), these opportunities to meet in person remind us why we do what we do—and why we do it together.
