Aren't they the cutest thing ever.

I've been working on a little project. And I can finally show you what I've been up too. These are REAL larkspur in resin. The photos really do not do them justice.

I made a couple of these before finally getting them right. Since they're real flowers. They would sometimes break. So I had to make sure they were sturdy.

So I've always liked doing things with my hands. Sewing is something I started back in my senior year of high school. I did that for about 9 years. I sewed many things from my own pincushion to a beautiful dress for my dog and a gorgeous ball gown that was inspired by frozen for a 3 year old. But I stopped when I started farming. Farming takes a lot of time. And I started from scratch. I moved plants all winter for a couple years. Bought a whole lotta plants. I spent every day outside. From morning to night. I even had a headlamp so I could see early in the morning to late into the dark. I was all in. But that's done. I've planted everything I needed to plant. I no longer need to move plants. Everything is nice. All I have to do is plant annual seedlings every spring and fall. So now I can start back into doing other things and sewing is something I've always been into.

So here's a hot pad. It took me a long while to finish this. I think it came out good. Took me a bit to get back in the groove of things but I'm glad.

It's been almost 4 weeks since I started the seeds. And look at them now. The Eucalyptus have all sprouted. The germanation on fresh seed was 100% but some seed that I bought in 2019 had drastically reduced. Had about a 30% germination rate. In 1 more week I'll be potting them up and taking them out into the green house. They'll live there until the weather warms enough that they can be planted out. So excited for the growing season.

It's that time again. If you missed out on planting some cool flowers. It's your second chance at starting them again. I'll be starting my long season plants. So eucalyptus, dusty miller and some stock. Those need long periods of cool weather to get a good bloom. So starting them early is key and they can take some cool temperatures. They'll be inside under a heat mat for a week or until they start emerging. Then I'll unplug the heat mat and let them grow under the lights for 4 weeks. That's when I'll bring them out into my green house. Let them adjust for a week or 2 and then set them out into the ground.
