Back in '98 I went to a Back To The Old Skool event, wanted to know the names of the tunes off a tape pack and inadvertently created a monster of a website 🥳

Back then the internet was all dial up and patience. There was no sites to find out the names of tracks, I cobbled together a webpage with clips on and had emails rolling in off people kindly naming them. Buzzing. I updated the names and as time went on it flipped. I started getting emails off people to say thanks they've been searching for that track for years.

I still remember the moment when the penny dropped. Others wanted to know names of tracks too and this thing had become the thing that wasn't there before.

I was on a mission. Over the next year or so I uploaded hundreds of clips. Quickly got them ID'd and the names added in and it grew and grew.

Early 2000's community forums started becoming a big thing so I bunged one on the site. Forums were like Facebook before Facebook with less pictures of food. A place for like minded people with similar interests and hobbies to type to each other on.

At this point everything went wild and it quickly went from a handful waffling to each other to hundreds then thousands all rocking up and joining in. Lifelong friendships were formed, relationships blossomed, marriages and babies were made. OSA was a big part of life for so many back then and it gripped most that stumbled on it.

25 years on and mostly thanks to a legend called Billy it's still doing its thing. Around 2007 Facebook became the place people spent most of their spare time on and most forums dwindled.

It's still has a thriving online radio station and the most talented bunch of old skool dj's around. The hundreds of thousands of posts created by everyone are still indexed by Google. It was the first site of its type around and it's still the number 1 resource for Old Skool on the net.

We are throwing a wee party next Saturday to celebrate 25 years of OSA and we would love for you to join us. If you would like to come just shout Sarah-Jayne Ray or Billy for tickets. We don't have many left so get yourself a wriggle on.

Thanks to Billy & Sarah for organising the event, all the dj's who are coming to play for us. And everyone who has been part of OSA over the years. Together we did something brilliant ❤️
