Team Building with BITE Creating feeders and furniture for animals worldwide through team builds/events and enclosure design. Go for 1-2hrs, half day or full day activities.

Every activity we run is bespoke to the client’s needs, but the core of each workshop is the same. Each group creates items for the animals as their team building event, and at the end gets to watch the animal’s response, providing a tangible and rewarding outcome to their efforts. By conducting these workshops, we aid the keepers at the host institution in their mission to provide the best possib

le animal welfare, creating enrichment items for the animals they might not otherwise get, due to limitations of time or money. Co-Founders Mark Kingston Jones and Chris Hales have over 35 year’s experience working with animals between them, and use this to design a great activity for the people that will truly benefit the animals. It may also help in fulfilling the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility aims. From over 300 team building reviews we have an average rating of 4.9/5*’s, with all the reviews viewable here: http://www.coursecheck.com/provider/39/team-building-with-bite

Our feedback shows groups leave with a fantastic feel good factor, with them talking about their experiences for weeks after. To date we have run over 190 workshops and as the items we design are meant for long term use, we have things made by our groups still being enjoyed by the animals 9 years later and counting. Choose to work together or in competition, go for serious team building or a bit of fun, whatever your needs we tailor our events to you! We have official partnerships with locations all over the UK, so let us know where you are based and we can find a venue for you! All prices are based on the length of the event, number of people and where your event is held, so please don't hesitate to ask for a quote.

And that is it for 2024, we have completed our last build day at Hadlow College until we return in three weeks. The project is in a great place, with the two enclosures having really taking shape. The main structures are complete, the roof mesh is done, and the front of both are so close to being completed.

A massive well done (and thank you) to the BITE team who have worked hard over these last four weeks in all weathers, we look forward to working with you all again in January to complete this project.

A few days back we shared a video of a team build at Jimmy's Farm & Wildlife ParkWe shared a video of a team build at Jimmy's Farm & Wildlife Park a few days back, showing the build come to life. We thought you might like to see the timelapse from the build where you can see it all come together. From creating the platforms, building the firehose hammocks, and installing them all on the poles to linking it all together with the existing structures with firehose. It was great to transform this area of the enclosure, and the team did a fantastic job!

A giant spider web, built-in firehose hammocks, multiple platforms and visual barriers, floating platforms, ladders and feeding stations, roping, solid climbing structures and moving climbing structures. These are just some of the things that were built into the gorilla design at Twycross Zoo.

Why did we design it like this? The layout of our usable area in the enclosure provided us with an interesting challenge. Staying 5 meters away from the building and 8 meters away from the public barrier gave us a back-to-front '6', meaning we had a round area with a long thin area at the top. We eventually settles on the design on four main structures, all joined together with a lot of 'stuff', all designed with the gorilla family in mind. For the oldies, there are lots of resting areas and easy to access climbing places. For the younger, or those more willing to climb, there are plenty of high areas. And for those that simply want some peace and quiet, there are many visual barriers all around where they can get away from it all.

We love the design and how it makes the most of the space available, and we have had fantastic feedback from the keepers, colleagues in other collections, and most importantly the gorillas themselves. We've also had the usual "it's very busy", and our reply as always, it's built for the animals, not you ;-)

Thanks again to the team at Twycross, we had a great time working on this project, and it was a pleasure working with you all.

This is almost the same view, but 11 days of building apart. We thoroughly enjoyed this build at Twycross Zoo, and the gorillas have been loving it as well since we completed it.

Week three of the Hadlow build has had us making a great start to the second enclosure of the Hadlow build. Because it will house a digging species, we've had the digger on site creating a deep channel to sink the mesh into the ground, erect the poles and get it all braced with the top framework.
We've completed the fence separating the enclosure from the goats and started on the safety porch, the front of enclosure 1, and the public stand-off barrier. It's been a challenging week, but the progress has been amazing. Fingers crossed for no wind next week so we can finish the roof of enclosure 1!

We have just finished our last team build of the year at Woburn Safari Park, running a two-hour build for the team from Cafea UK Limited.
The group was split into 11 teams, each making two of these feeder cubes. Each cube has internal chambers, so as the animals roll them around it takes a long time for all of the food to be extracted.

A huge well done to the team for creating them, you all did a fantastic job and it was great to see the bears test them out today. The remaining cubes will be tested out with other species over the coming days.

We're at Woburn Safari Park for our last team build of the year. Check back later to see what we've been up to today.

Towards the end of summer, we were joined by a group at Jimmy's Farm & Wildlife Park for a Team Build. As part of our information-gathering process, the group has asked to work outside, which led to us working in the lemur enclosure creating furniture in an unused area of the exhibit. We had a fantastic time, and the group did a great job building platforms, firehose hammocks, and joining everything together with more firehose, including onto the existing structures to link it all together.
And then it was time to let the lemurs out to give it their approval, and they explored everything!
A huge well done to the team for doing such a fantastic job, it was great working with you all.

Yorkshire Wildlife Park has definitely been our busiest Team Building Partner location for 2024, so our last team build here for this year had to end on something big…

Enter 1.2ton Jasper and the rest of the black rhino crash!

Massive thanks to today’s group of 9 who worked in two teams to create these giant fire hose cubes, which were specially requested by the rhino keepers.

Not only did both groups make the two cubes each that we’d hoped for, but in true Christmas spirit a couple of participants from each group joined forces to make a 5th one before the time ran out.

Then it was off to the rhino house to see the rhinos enjoy their efforts! And even baby Rocco got involved.

An enormous thank you to the fantastic team at the Park, who’ve looked after us all year, and especially the awesome keepers and the ever brilliant Zaremba

We can’t wait to return next year!

Mud, mud and more mud! Everything was looking good during our Hadlow College build until Storm Darragh came through to turn our area into a swamp. We've spent the last few days working on the second enclosure that will house a digging species, and so we've had a digger on site to create a 1mtr deep channel for the mesh to be put down into, before covering it all back over.

We've also made a start on the roof mesh of the first enclosure, along with the public stand-off barrier and goat fence, all of which we are planning on finishing during next weeks final four days of the year on this project.

A shout out to the BITE team who have been working in some horrible conditions these last three days, but we've all pulled together to get some fantastic progress on the project, well done team!

Enormous thanks to Alison Allen Photography for sharing more of her great shots of the orangutans at Blackpool Zoo enjoying their inside space, which we renovated recently in August/September.

The last few months have been absolutely insane with team builds and contract builds but seeing results like this makes it all worthwhile.

Especially seeing the babies start to explore the space!

We have built these awesome T-Feeders in the past for the primates at Woburn, so when we were asked to make them for the macaques at Jimmy's Farm & Wildlife Park it was our chance to upgrade them slightly. Macaques can be quite destructive, so some stronger materials were needed to build them compared to the lightweight first version.
The feeders are suspended from different areas in the enclosure. The whole device can rotate on a swivel, and the individual mesh cubes can also rotate. The idea is that it makes the primates work harder for their food, as well as extending the time searching and obtaining food.
Over the course of the two-hour team build the group built many of these feeders, and as expected, the devices worked great with the macaques, and will also be tested with other species. A huge well done to the group, it was a great build!

After just 8 days the framework on Enclosure Number 1 is complete, putting us in a fantastic place for this week's work and everything that needs to be done.

At the end of the summer we had a great time constructing the new climbing and feeding structure for the tigers at Blackpool Zoo. Over a five-day period we used natural poles to build the multi-level structure, using one of the large poles already in the exhibit as the anchor to take everything from. The structure has four levels, with a tilt feeder built directly into it, and we even built a high-wire feeder for the cats to feed from. It is built in such a way that it offers plenty of sun, shade and privacy, while also being on show to the public.
We loved the way it turned out, and using the natural poles gave it a fantastic look, and it smelled great during construction.

We're at the end of eight days on-site at and we're in a fantastic place with the build. The main structures for enclosure 1 are complete, with the roof finished and 90% of the wall framing in place. This means we are set to start putting mesh onto the enclosure when we get back on site next week. We also have the digger arriving on Tuesday, meaning we'll also be able to make a start on enclosure No 2 which is an open-top exhibit, and it will really transform the area by the end of our eight-day stint.
It's great to see the plans coming together, and as with all of our builds, it's bigger than it looked on our initial 3D design, which is no bad thing at all.

Well done to the BITE team on the work so far, everyone has really worked hard and the project is looking great because of it.

We've had a great day, christening the new Darwin Suite at Yorkshire Wildlife Park, with our first team build in this fantastic new space!

And not only that but this was a return booking, by a group who joined us this time 2yrs ago for more animal filled team building!

Last time around they were working with chunky timber for the Parks black rhino, so this time we wanted to give them a completely different experience.

Working in 4 groups, each team constructed these great HDPE tongue feeders for the Parks tower of giraffe.

We prototyped these feeders a few months ago and they worked brilliantly, but they needed to be made slightly bigger.

So the original versions have been passed to the primates, where they are being well used, and we unscaled this new version to accommodate bigger holes and bigger balls!

Thank you so much to the amazing team for once again working brilliantly together - the giraffes instantaneous interaction was a perfect reward!

We've been making great progress in the Hadlow build, and after just six days we have all the uprights and roof beams completed on the first enclosure. We also made a great start on the new fence line (after tearing out the old one with some help from the college students) and have also started on the large safety porch that will service both enclosures.

And after a horrible wet and cold day today, we're looking forward to a couple of days of sun to really make some progress for the last two days of this week.

Thanks to Premier Forest Products for supplying the timber for this project.
