Hey y’all, Happy Friyay! It’s been awhile! Focusing on two littles has been super time consuming but we wanted to give an update on life + some exciting news!

So, here’s the tea! We woke up to an email saying Joyful Bits Wedding Design has been nominated for Best of Penticton’s “Best Event Planner/Designer”.

Wow, y’all! Just, wow 😭 It feels like a bittersweet moment for us. This is our last summer (for the foreseeable future) planning and designing weddings (at least to the public).

As we begin to settle down and say “goodbye” (hopefully not forever) I’m (as in Helena) am reminded everyday why focusing on our kids in this season is so important. I literally just look at ‘em and I know. They give me a gummy smile and I know this is where the Big Man upstairs wants me right now. My heart maybe a little heavy now but each day it gets lighter and brighter knowing my children get ALL of me during this very short time in their young lives. And, not to mention I get to truly take care of my mental health this time around after giving birth. It was a very difficult road after Ezra’s birth and wedding planning prompted PPD for me. I’m insanely grateful to do things differently this time around.

Our dear sweet wedding community this is to you: We are grateful for you. Y’all truly are the definition of what a “friendor” should be and we would be nothing without you. Thank you for always having our backs and just being so dang cool.

To our clients: Thank you for entrusting with your special day these past years! Such an honour to work alongside such beautiful souls!

It’s Saturday yet it feels like a Wednesday. I guess having two children and giving birth to one this week will do that to ya 😂

So, friends, we would like to FINALLY introduce Stella (Ellie) Ann Pedersen to you! We’ve been quite busy adjusting to the new norm but our sweet wildflower came into this world vacuum style on Sept. 20, 2021 @ 11:06am. This day was also my grandfathers birthday who is also so so special to me. We also had the privilege of being across the hall from one of our dear friends and past clients as they had their baby the next day. It was the COOLEST experience and we were taken care of by the best staff at PRH.

Right now we are settling into being a family of four. So, let the good times roll and keep those padsicles flowing (at least for the next couple of weeks) ♥️✨

Oh Joyful!

We’ve come a long way sweet business. These two.

One made me a mama and the other is getting ready to come into this world in a few months. I never thought I’d be a mom just the “cool aunt”. I’m grateful enough to say that that my mama, my aunts and my grandmother truly showed me the beauty in being a mom; then my sister and my cousin. They paved a way for me to not only appreciate but desire to become a mom. I am one of the lucky ones. That’s not everyone’s story. But, if you’re upbringing and your story differs from mine know that you’re an amazing mother. Past does not define you. Today we celebrate the lives you’re able to love on and mold in this world. We are all grateful and thankful for you. 📸

✨EXCITING NEWS ALERT✨

Went for a run this morning. Then, our child proceeded to be pretend he was blind and hit into many things. It’s been a little crazy around here. Thankfully, opened up our email and found that Joyful Bits has been nominated in 4 categories for Best of Penticton this year! That definitely turned the day around in a positive way! Feeling more than grateful these days especially with the new season of life (and I mean physical life) that will come into our lives this September.

Happy International Women’s Day!

I know there’s been some MIA on JB’s presence in the social media world as of late but we could not sit by and not wish those beautiful souls in our community an amazing International Women’s Day!

You’ll find in this photo a man and that’s Matt; my hubby and JB partner in crime. However, that man supports me, encourages me and goes along with my crazy ideas 24/7. I love being a woman and having the support I do in my community. I try not to take that for granted as there are other places around the world where women are treated like second class citizens. But, I’ve seen in these instances these women take that opposition and turn it into gold. They don’t let others tell them they are less than because they know they have just as much worth as any other human being in this world.

Now, do you see those other two ladies in the picture? Those are my other boss babes. JB could not exist without their helpful and creative hands. This community of women we have surrounded ourselves with is incredible. The most hardworking and successful humans we know are women. We do not think that is a coincidence. So, yes, we celebrate that today but we will continue to celebrate that every damn day too. 💪🏼

Well....who needs a drink? After yesterday, we wouldn’t mind a wine or two. But, it all definitely put a few things in perspective for us & one of those things was gratitude. ✨

Grateful for this mountain view, this past photoshoot where we got to chill and create with the raddest people (FYI has the coolest horse trailer bar - Sweet Penny), and this piece of Mountain. Super grateful that we have the opportunity to live in this specific place in Canada. We don’t ever want to take that for granted.

Dear 2020,

Thank you for rest. Thank you for the reminder that truly “the little things” in life matter. Ya know, like being able to wipe your bum with toilet paper (and the good kind for that matter). Thank you for renewed purpose. Thank you for awakening new creative juices during a time of stillness because without that stillness it would have been ignored or tossed aside. But, most of all thank you for ending so that a new chapter can unfold here in 2021.

Matt and I had a whole lotta expectations this year and timelines. However, 2020 gave us and many others in this industry quite a curveball. We are so thankful for the good and bad this year as the good reminded us to be grateful and to not take this world for granted while the bad taught us to lean into Jesus and push forward.

We saw a post where a lovely family member of ours asked the public what word would best describe their intention for 2021. We thought about this and our word is obedience. Odd word, we know. But, we feel like 2020 gave us the opportunity to truly reflect on our business. And, we feel like we are being called into a season of stillness in the wedding industry. This means focus on family and the home. So, we are going to be obedient to this and slow down for however time necessary after the 2021 wedding season.

So, what does this mean?
1. We look forward to our wedding endeavours in 2021 but will not be booking anymore weddings come 2022.
2. We are so grateful for the friends we’ve made in this industry and if you need a helping hand we’ve got you 😉
3.Many thanks to all our past and current clients as we would not be where we are today without your trust in us. Our couples are just the best and our Okanagan vendors are just top notch.

Never fear we will be keeping our JB account as we do have weddings this year and would like to keep everyone up to date. But, we’ve also created a new account that will capture our journey as a family up on the property. Let’s just say there will be a lot of food based content 👉🏼

Stationery.

Whether it’s your Save the Dates or literal wedding invitations 9/10 there will be some form of paper product going out to your guests. What we absolutely love about personalized wedding stationery is that you can work with a small business who will take the time and energy to give you exactly what you’d like instead of the same old cookie cutter stuff anyone can purchase online. Every detail in this stationery cohesively worked with this shoot because Laura from .designs took the time (not to mention energy as well) to create these beauties. There was a bit of back and forth but it was ALL worth it. We can honestly say that if we decided to go to a big website we would not have received the same personal level of dedication and energy that were put into this Tiger King stationery.

Just framing the beauty that is Mother Nature 🍂🌾

When you have a view like this (and we are lucky to literally call this our backyard) there is no reason to try and outshine the landscape that’s already doing a stellar job. We literally created a frame to “Frame” the landscape and had .eastside add her wild and natural talent to the piece. Swipe to check out how we posed the models in the distance. It’s pretty sweet.

But, need to mention that at the end of the day it’s all about editing and actually taking the photos of all the hard work created & did a FRICKIN amazing job capturing everything for this Tiger King shoot. As we highlight each vendor in this shoot please remember Melissa as she is the one who captured and edited the day. And, if you’re digging it (which you should be lol) she can do this for you too! In fact, right now, you can purchase a gift certificate from her for others or yourself so she can take photos of your fine self too!

In honour of American Thanksgiving today we are highlighting THE CAKE that was produced for this Tiger King photoshoot. Y’all, it was beautiful and tasty! We don’t know how you make a cake that delicious but it was drool worthy. Swipe for closeups and the inside of the cake which is leopard print too!

Our dessert “table” was one of our favourite features for this shoot. Matt created a “floating” table that was affixed to the trees with rope. Then, we used basket chandelier and .eastside added her magical touch with the florals. Now, if only could whip one of these up for tonight’s festivities? We can dream ✨😋

Are you a bride? Do you need a wedding dress? Then, Amanda at is your girl! Let me explain why! Not only does this lady have an amazing collection of ethically sourced designers to choose from she knows how to find the PERFECT dress for you. I’ll be honest - when there are pretty wedding dresses I get waaayyy too distracted & it’s like I’m in a candy shop and I must have everything 🙈 Thankfully, when I popped in with our model and my busy boy child; Amanda was super chill and helped us figure out what would work perfectly with the Tiger King Photoshoot. You know you’ve got a spectacular vendor when all you can say you’re going for is “Carole Baskin” and the vendor says aka Amanda, “I don’t know what that means” 😂 but still manages to nail the look on the head with the perfect wedding dress. We think we captured the essence of Carole well with our hot pink veil, thrift shop leopard print heels find and of course stunning dress! Swipe to see the back of this killer dress

If y’all peaked through our story reel yesterday we mentioned that this week we are highlighting the businesses who helped make this Tiger King shoot a reality. Without these gems it would not have been possible. So, do yourself a favour and follow & support each of these local treasures ✨

Florals can be a huge ticket item on the docket for any wedding. But, that being said, we know many florists who like to think outside the box who can be creative and thrifty so that your flower dreams can come true. .eastside was a floral goddess! She had a wedding the night before this shoot but she showed up the day of with beautiful gems like this gal featured in the post. She recycled dried florals and combined them with fresh stems to create the perfect combination.
