A Big Move
Winona is flourishing, and we are welcoming the addition of The Minnesota Centennial Showboat to our growing community.
Originally created in 1958 to celebrate Minnesota’s 100th birthday, the showboat served as a traveling summer performance venue for the University of Minnesota theatrical department which included Winona in its route. Moored for repairs in 2000, the Centennial Showboat was mostly destroyed due to fire months before its reopening. After the university’s theater professor C. Lance Brockman led a campaign effort for another showboat, it once again welcomed audiences in July 2002 with Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Fifteen years later, the university decided not to renew its contract with the city of St. Paul. It was the showboat’s time to move to a new home.
We are a nonprofit organization and are always appreciative of all contributions and donation denominations.
We thank you for your support!
