I'm DJing on Saturday at Brockton Beer Company's outdoor beer garden. I was at a cultural event recently where one of the speakers talked about Brockton needing a performance space. Well, guess what?! The Sycamore Sol stage is that kind of space - yes, it's weather-dependent but it is a covered stage with lights & a sound system and hosts with experience.

So, I am inviting anyone who wants to perform (vocalists, karaoke, dance, stand-up comedy, other ideas?) to come out tomorrow and we will make it work. Be there for Brockton Beer on their last day! The space (left side of Brockton Beer) opens at Noon. I'll be there from 4 pm until closing. It will be a night to remember.

Jane's Addiction can come back from this incident...
..shoot, I was managing a band where - about half-way through the tour (in Cali) - the drummer and lead guitarist quit - complaining about the lead singer - who was acting very typical of himself. (AKA they should've known before they signed up.)

Big problem was the drummer had one of the two tour vans. 🥲

We completed the tour.

Sooooo, my first Jane's Addiction show may have been their last 🥲

Perry Farrell seemed weird, but what else is new? He looked a bit like Freddie Kruger at times. The band was tight, totally energetic (had me rethinking what's possible at this age) and the sound was excellent... Dave Navarro was blistering.

In terms of Farrell's vocals they were buried in effects and I thought that was just part of the vibe. I didn't pick up on his vocals being particularly subpar - which is apparently the source of the beef - in particular, his being wasted affecting his vocals. Note there was no sign of a wine bottle nor him dipping off the side to take a swig of anything - unlike an earlier city in the tour. The only song where his vox weren't what they could be was "Jane Says."

In a sense, if anyone should've had a chip on their shoulder last night it was Love and Rockets, who sounded decent but the mix and sound level was just a bit too droney. Yes, I get that some of that is their sound but songs like "Express Kundalini" could've been a lot more crisp. The issue was not their playing skills.

Farrell punched Navarro during the 11th song... my daughter had been begging to leave, thus we were out during the 10th song and long gone.
