Because your wedding is your day, the day when you declare your love for each other, you should have control over the language that unites you. Everyone wants a beautiful, memorable wedding, and ultimately, the words you speak to one another are the most powerful part of the day. As

a celebrant and writing and literature teacher, I believe deeply in the power of words. The words you speak to join your lives form the heart of the ceremony. Your involvement in the creation of the wedding ceremony will help you connect more deeply to the experience. I strongly believe that your ceremony should primarily be about you and your beliefs—whatever they are. I’m there to perform your ceremony, not dictate your choices. My commitment is to you as a couple and I will help you express yourself with beauty and confidence. All of my ceremonies are personalized from the very traditional to the totally non-traditional. I will tell your story and help you connect to traditions you love or create something entirely unique. Whether you want a quick "I-Do" for just the two of you, or you’ve been saving poetry under your pillow for years planning for a big celebration, together we’ll create a ceremony perfect for you. You’ll be able to relax and focus on the moment, knowing in advance the words that will unite you. I make the process easy and relaxed. I listen to your story, your beliefs, and your desires and incorporate these elements into your wedding ceremony. It's difficult to even begin to encapsulate what Katrina Baecht does as an officiant; her unique talent and level of dedication are extraordinary. A wedding ceremony is a part of the wedding that most couples tend to overlook — we're all used to the staid and stuffy old conventions that typically make guests' eyes glaze over, with the same "in holy matrimony" verbiage copypasted into seemingly every wedding ceremony. This part is so ingrained in us that we didn't even realize we could do something different, something special.

Before encountering Katrina, my wife and I never knew a wedding ceremony could be so perfectly tailored to our story and our personalities. Her samples of ceremony options instantly shifted our perspective, and as soon as we started reading them we got excited and knew we were in good hands.

We then met with Katrina over coffee and chatted with her about our story, how we got together and the overall narrative arc of our relationship. She drew out our story and our ideas about the wedding and its significance in our lives, and in just a few minutes she presented us with a draft of the ceremony that nearly brought us to tears. Her ability to listen, process, and translate a couple's narrative into a beautiful personalized ceremony is an art form bordering on magic.

Katrina helped us through several iterations, ensuring it captured the tone and spirit we envisioned. She made recommendations for composing vows, and we happily adopted them and worked together to create the perfect vows for us. After the wedding, she gave us a manuscript of the ceremony with our vows included, and it's something we will cherish forever.

Discovering Katrina felt like a major puzzle piece snapping perfectly into place for our wedding, and not only did it put us at ease and make us feel confident in our wedding, it also made us feel so honored to have her there to be a part of it. When people ask about my favorite part of the wedding, I don't hesitate to say it was the ceremony.
