Officially 2 years ago my very good friends tied the knot in roaring 20's style! Their wedding was the highlight of the year for me. I wore several hats that day, except the one I was gifted for being a bridesmaid 🥺😥. Happy Anniversary you too! Two years of so much love, laughter, and music. Here's to many more! 🥂💖 Hugs and love to you both!

Today is Earth Day, April 22nd 2024! Join me and celebrate our beautiful Mother Earth. To celebrate, I invite you to destash your cupboards, dig out those basement boxes and find some of your unused vases. For the week of April 22nd - 28th, drop off your clean, used ceramic or glass vases (no cracks or chips please) and receive a credit voucher for $1-$5 per vase off your next or first order of flowers.
Send me an email or DM with a photo of your vases and arrange to drop them off or be picked up if you are without a vehicle.
Why would I do this? Re-using is one of the best ways to stop sending clutter to landfills. Reusing means only local traffic (carbon foot print reduced) without the extra shipping from China. When everyone does just one small thing, they equal one big thing. The world can change for the better for everyone.

Another fantastic Art in Bloom event at the WAG-Qaumajuq for 2024 This is my interpretation of the beautiful Amauti, Our Flourishing Culture by Maata Kyak

A big thank you to Petals West for sponsoring the flower magic brought to life. It could not be done without their generosity and support.
Big shout out to Dawn, Zoe, and Quin.
🌿
A shout out to Pat for organizing us all! TY!
My srtist statement for the piece.
🌸
"The immediate thought while viewing this dress was of seasonal beauty found in the isolated north. I’m using bright colours to honour the vibrant growing community of the artist. Imagery of colourful tundra against snow and rocks, play in the mind where seals live and play, this being represented by using wax based structure. I hope to bring to life in flowers the joy and pride of Maata Kyak’s work." -

Can an Hour change the world?

Earth Hour invites you to switch off and spend 60 minutes doing something - anything - positive for our planet.

Just 60 minutes? Yes, just one hour. It may not seem like much, but the magic happens when you, and those like you in Asia and Africa, North and South America, Oceania and Europe - supporters in over 190 countries and territories - all give an hour for our one home, creating the Biggest Hour for Earth.

If Cov1d taught us anything, when we all shut down, billions of people around the world saw the sky for the first time. THE FIRST TIME. Every person matters. Every person can change the world.

We were so close with spring weather there for a few days. The days are getting brighter and we just had our spring equinox! Warmer days will be following soon.

Throwback to a creative moment from 2021 when spring was obviously a lot sooner that it will be this year. The violas were from my garden.

One of the many reasons I leave the leaves in my little garden.

The return of warm weather is normally a sign for bees and other bugs to wake up and look for their first meal in months! But if it's a "false spring"—arriving oddly early and followed by more cold—many struggle to survive.

Most plants are still dormant, meaning there’s little food to be had, and the sudden drop in temperature can be too fast for insects to adjust to. False springs can be particularly dangerous for species that only reproduce once per year, wiping out many adults before they can build the next generation.

Climate change has made false springs and other unusual weather events much more common. Leaving last year’s leaves and other debris in your yard can give your local bugs enough shelter to make it until spring actually arrives.

The Passion Inside

My Mom and I joke that I came into this world with a love of flowers and nature by osmosis. She was pregnant with me while she was working in a flower shop in BC, where I grew up. During my childhood, the outdoors were my playground and learning respect for all nature began at a very early age.

Fast forward to my early 20’s when I found myself working in the same flower shop that my Mom did, with the same owner. He was instrumental by encouraging me to learn floral design and begin the journey to becoming a designer. My mentor, Sherrie, took me under her wing and taught me the basics. I was so eager to learn!

Working for a few different owners and flowers shops, I continued to learn. Eventually, my life lead me to Winnipeg. Moving here I had one goal in mind; to make a living as a floral designer. In less than two weeks, I had secured a design position at a local flower shop. I was beyond excited! It was here I learned so much more from experienced owners & designers. The sheer volume of orders and customers were much more than my experience in Nelson. . Within my time at this flower shop, I had completed about 200 weddings, from basic to elaborate! Wow... I had never dreamt that was possible.

After almost 4 years working in the Winnipeg Floral Industry, I took a new chance in my life and went to work at a desk job. While the pay was exceptional and new challenges were exciting, over time the gnawing at my soul could no longer be ignored. My passion of nature and all things green and flowering needed to return to my life.
