Gussie Larkin - Tidbit No.5
Episode Five with Gussie Larkin! Based in Pōneke with teeth in many pies- Earth Tongue, Mermaidens, Girls Rock Aotearoa as well as a great handful of other fantastic arts/community manifestations. Gussie blends a whole lot of colourful, awe-inspiring creativity into the arts & music community whilst still managing to find time for a comprehensive shred of the gat.
This interview occured in the lines between Level 3 and Level 2 so some of the korero may seem less relevant than this free-flowing Level 1, but the meaningful humane insights remain true.
Thank you for tuning in!
Nikau Te Huki - Tidbit No.4
TONIGHT at San Fran is the return of H4LF CĀST. It's also the return of our Tidbit series, which we took a pause from so as to not take up space for crucial discourse amid current global unrest.
We have more interviews coming out over the next few weeks, where you can expect to see meaningful humane insights from some of Aotearoa's most wonderfully talented artists...
Nikau Te Huki joins us for the fourth edition of the Tidbit series. He is a wizard of sound with a strong focus on creating Medicinal Māori Music. As front man of 'H4LF CĀST' and new project 'Casual Healing', there are many exciting and inspiring sound waves coming from his direction so stay tuned.
Dr. Reknaw - Tidbit No.1
It's NZ Music Month! Last week we talked to Sophie and Julia of Dr.Reknaw - the first in the Tidbit series where Mouthfull interviews and shares insights from some of Aotearoa's most wonderfully talented artists.
It’s particularly relevant during this time of social isolation, where there are obviously no gigs or shows and no way to feel the energy of the artists. Live streams are wonderful of course but we're hoping that these tidbits will provide some meaningful humane insights into the whos, whats, hows and wairua of these local music makers.
Dr Reknaw are up to something truly incredible with their 7 piece supergroup. The band began with the two sisters as an acoustic duo, producing beautiful close knit harmonies and now Dr. Reknaw has grown into an empowering groove-machine, sharing messages of connectedness to the whenua and to our fellow humans. A vibrational cleanse of dub, roots, soul, funk, RnB and hip-hop. We are so grateful to have collaborated with them numerous times in the past, and to share this short video now!
Watch the virtual video here to hear wise words from the pair, or click over to our Youtube to see the full 20min interview - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I-jzdMNWyh0
Sending love and thanks! See you next Monday for more NZ Music Month

HAVE YOU HEARD OF FRANK ROBSON?
We had not, until our good friends created a play based on the books that this NZ fisherman, author, and marine conversationalist wrote back in the 1970s.
It really is an amazing story to tell, and we are so excited to see it come to life on stage. So excited in fact, that Ollie over here has created a beautiful (debut stop motion) promo video for Mark's (from Single Ply Co.) 6 Degrees Festival show.
Please come along sometime next week!
