The Annual Northwest Denver Folkfest enters it's 4th year here at the Oriental Theater and we have some great things in store for this year's festival. We have made a few changes this year: We moved the festival from the spring to the fall. We experimented with two days last year and decided to scale it back to one this year. We are bringing some old staples along with some exciting new artists. T
he festival, curated by Dustin Reid (Sunnyside Music Fest Music Director / Swallow Hill Box office manager & Musician) & Scott LaBarbera (Oriental Theater owner) will feature some of the Front Range's best singer-songwriters, roots, bluegrass, blues, soul, folk, indie rock and whatever the hell else we want to showcase. This is not a "traditional" Folkfest - we try to expand the genre and broaden musical horizons -and much like many other festivals that are named after a specific genre (i.e "New Orleans Jazz Fest"), we celebrate quality music - in our case it's music that we that we define as having "Folk roots". It's a broad definition, but that is what is great about music - it's open to interpretation. We are very proud of the reputation this small festival has garnered - especially among those closely tied to the Denver music community - so do yourself a favor and spend the day here at the Oriental Theater - it's going to a special day of music, good times & great people. This site will be a place to catch updates about set times, performers that will be added to the lineup, and general information about the artists performing.
