Mala Junta are no strangers to disruption; they’ve been ripping up the rulebook ever since they began in 2018.

Disillusioned with the pace of Berlin’s dancefloors, and inspired by the success of fast & frenetic nights further afar such as close friends Fast Forward in Copenhagen, DJ TOOL, Hyperaktivist and Nayme sought to create an event in their own name.

The trio set about becoming agents of chaos in the German capital, blending the merciless sound that the city is famous for with the high energy acid trance blossoming in their Northern neighbour. In the six years since, living up to their mischievous name, their high jinks, quirky nature has taken by storm not just their home city but Europe too.

After two unforgettable encounters in 2023, on Saturday 6th April Mala Junta will return to Canning Town, with:

Ismus returns to FOLD this Saturday night from 22:00.

To begin the proceedings, Nakamo steps back into the DJ booth to launch the night and is shortly followed by two FOLD debutants. Faster Horses brings his blend of old school techno and modern trance to our halls this Saturday night, before a pioneer of the new age trance movement, Alpha Tracks makes his first appearance in Canning Town.

Fresh from her appearance at UNFOLD XL, Melati takes charge of closing duties, bringing the night to its conclusion in her signature, high energy style.

Nakamo will join us at FOLD Meets Fast Forward Productions for the latest chapter in her extraordinary tale.

Whilst her public club appearances have aligned with the world reopening, Nakamo’s past extends far before this. The French artist began her relationship with electronic music in the North London Warehouse District in 2018. A place to live, dance and learn, she immersed herself in this underground haven, and it was here where she started playing regularly to crowds. Mixing on every surface, from kitchen tabletops to abandoned boats - anywhere she could find - not a day went by when she did not study her art.

When the world started emerging from its extended pause, Nakamo was ready to take it to the next stage. Extensive support from HTBX London and ourselves at UNFOLD has seen her profile reach even larger heights, and she is now a regular sight on the lineups of q***r events in the capital.

Her driving techno blends with melodic grooves encompassing the listener, only releasing once the music has ended. More recently she has turned to production, and with two releases in the past year on Midnight Climax and MFC Records.

Nakamo started her DJ journey in 2020 across the North London party scene crafting podcasts over lockdown for London based techno collectives. She made her debut at award-winning artist led space and nightclub FOLD. Since then, she has made quite a name for herself across London’s club scene and is now a regular at acclaimed q***r techno parties such as HTBX, HOWL, UNFOLD and Boudica.

With two releases under her belt in 2021, including “orbiter” on Midnight Climax and “Sonar” on MFC records alongside Katia Val, Dj Medhi Fx093 And Molkz. Nakamo is an emerging producer to watch.
