I was hanging out with friends New Year’s Eve when I heard someone say “magician” nearby—one of my favorite words! I went over and found a 10-year-old boy named Ari Zarrett performing card tricks for a group of people. At first, I was just going to watch, but my friend introduced me as a “pro magician,” which was a little embarrassing. Normally, when I meet another magician, I stay quiet so they can have the spotlight. Magic is about sharing joy, not competing, so I didn’t want to interrupt.

But Ari didn’t mind at all. He kept going, and wow—this kid was incredible. He did a card-to-mouth trick for someone way taller than him, and they never saw it coming. Their reaction priceless. Ari’s skills were so polished, and his ability to misdirect was unbelievable, especially for someone so young.

What impressed me even more was his humility. After performing, Ari started teaching ME some cardistry moves I hadn’t seen before. He was so patient and clear in explaining everything. He even told me about a special deck designed for creative challenges and when I said I’d probably mess up, he told me, “It’s not about winning or losing—it’s about learning and having fun together.” His kindness and wisdom were far beyond his years.

We ended up spending three hours jamming on magic together all the way to midnight. Even though I was surrounded by friends, I couldn’t walk away. Ari’s passion reignited my own love for magic. As a professional, it’s easy to think of magic as work, but he reminded me why I fell in love with it in the first place.

At one point, Ari showed me a photo of him with Teller at Magic Live, and I realized I was in the background of his picture! I remember seeing him at the event but didn’t know who he was at the time. What are the chances we’d meet later in a tiny coastal town like Mendocino? It’s far from everything—two hours to the nearest airport—and yet magic brought us together.

Meeting Ari on NYE was 🎉. His talent, humility, and kindness are rare, and I know he’s going to do incredible things in the future. It was an honor to share that with him, and it reminded me why magic is so special.

WHAT A MONTH! Oh my goodness, guys (and gals and theys)—I am bursting with excitement and exhaustion and gratitude over how wild and wonderful this past month has been! December has been an absolute rollercoaster ride of holiday parties, corporate gigs, virtual shows, and enough driving trips to fill an entire map of California with pins. I don’t usually post a ton here on Facebook, but so much has happened that I just have to share all this incredible magic (pun intended!) with you. Seriously, it’s been a nonstop parade of fun and work, and my camera roll is overflowing with pictures I can’t wait to share below.

One of my biggest highlights this season waaaaaaas…. Getting the chance to perform for some truly phenomenal companies. Seriously! I’ve been doing everything from close-up magic at intimate gatherings to epic virtual mentalism shows beamed across the country. The list of clients who brought me into their holiday festivities still blows my mind: Shopify, SmarterShips, Edgemesh, Amwins, Amazon’s Music Team, GM Properties, Kiewit, BetterWorks, the Google AI User Experience Team, Panda Express, Recor Medical, Animoto, Osmind, PCCTC, the American College of Radiology IT department, and even 7-Eleven! Trust me, there’s something surreal (in the best way) about strolling around a party performing illusions, or logging onto a Zoom call to wow people from all over the world. Every single one of these shows was a complete joy, and I am so honored I got to play a small role in everyone’s holiday celebrations.

And speaking of massive honors, I just have to shout this from the rooftops: I did a virtual holiday show for the amazing folks at Zapier! For those of you who don’t know, Zapier is an automation platform that hooks up different apps and services so you can streamline your workflow. If you’re sitting there thinking, “Huh, never heard of it,” don’t worry, you’re not alone. But if you’re like me and have used Zapier to basically turn into a time saving witch, then you’re definitely an entrepreneur nerd! Getting to share some magic with a team that is literally all about making digital magic happen and saving people their life hours -felt like a match made in heaven. I was so jazzed! It was one of those pinch-me moments that made me realize just how lucky I am to do what I do.

Now, let’s talk about the not-so-glamorous side of this whirlwind month: the driving. The back pain. WOW THE BACK PAIN. 😭😭😭😭

Let me tell you, I have been behind the wheel more than behind the deck of cards or even computer lately! There have been so many nights where I’ve stacked multiple shows one after another, hopping in my car as soon as I’m done at one party, then racing over to the next. Sometimes I can’t help but wonder if it would be easier (and maybe even more profitable!) to just do one massive, amazing show for a single company and call it a night. But then I remember how fun it is to pop into different events for a quick 1-2 hours of walk-around magic, bringing that holiday cheer to so many different people. It’s like choosing between a giant, glorious feast at one table versus handing out little, delicious yum yum treats to a whole bunch of friends. Both approaches have their charm, but I do love sprinkling the joy around—especially during the holiday season.

And can we just take a moment to appreciate how unbelievably cool my job is? I mean if you’re a magician friend reading thie - I mean, we get paid to pretend we have superhuman magical abilities, and people actually believe it—at least for a few spellbinding moments! It’s basically getting paid to lie in the most enchanting and truthful way possible. If that isn’t bending reality or “breaking the matrix,” I’m not sure what is. I wake up every morning and pinch myself, thinking, “Wait, this is my real life? I get to astonish people for a living?” 12 year old me would be so excited. I also think I'm starting to narrow down my vibe/brand as a magician. I am dressing more how I'd like to dress and hinting at my retro vibes while trying to be glam and also modern. -It's a delicate balance but I think I'm getting there. I love vintage but I find that's not as good of a style for many of the corporate events I'm doing. (side-note let me know what you think of my style in my december photos? Should I dress more modern or more vintage or is what I've settled on a nice in between ?)

Another bucketlist highlight of my jam-packed month was my appearance on the daytime news talk show called Live on the Bay, hosted in San Francisco by the lovely and gracious Rachel and Jessica. These two were so welcoming and such a delight to hang out with backstage, on set—everywhere! They invited me on to showcase some of my magic, and we had an absolute blast. I even gave them each their very own magic kits for their nieces and nephews for the holidays! -we all need more magic, especially during the hustle and bustle of the holiday season. 😜

And that’s really what this month has been about: connecting with people, creating little pockets of wonder, and sharing in the universal fun of the holidays. From Panda Express having me (you know I’m obsessed with their food!) to the high-tech Zapier virtual show: every event has left me feeling grateful and energized. I’ve got so many pictures: silly bathroom selfies before I step on stage, candid snaps of me wowing guests, and behind-the-scenes moments that capture all the silliness that happens when you’re racing from gig to gig. I even hired a photographer and videographer who’s amazing to come to gigs with me (I’ll share that footage later!)

So —I’m posting an enormous photo dump, stuffed with all the best moments and memories from December big and small. Thank you to everyone who has supported me, believed in me, and booked me to come spread a little enchantment this holiday season. You’re the reason I can keep doing what I love, one magical day at a time. It’s been a hectic few weeks, but I wouldn’t trade it for the world.

I hope your holidays were just as fun, and here’s to an even more amazing new year! I can’t wait to see what fresh adventures, new shows, and maybe even more driving (yes, more driving!) 2025 will bring. Stay magical, my friends—this journey is only getting started!

One of those magical things that only happens in LA!!!

I got to meet from (one of my favorite television shows currently).

Brendan and I love watching it so much.

Last Christmas I even had this cringe (but amazing) painting made which was inspiration from her character on the show.

So, in the show her fiancé and her have these super dramatic paintings in their living room with them naked. 🤣

WOW. She is seriously one of the funniest people on television right now and I can’t believe I got to see her do improv at AND have her sign the painting AND get a photo with her.

Somebody pinched me!

Yay I’m so excited !
