If you don’t want a new Maccas in Safety Beach, object to this soon!

Why? That's the question we should all be asking. Why should we even consider the notion of a new super site, combining BP and Macca's, in the pristine location of Safety Beach, right across from the breathtaking foreshore? The concerns raised by numerous locals and businesses in the past few days have left them visibly distressed. While we usually believe in the power of majority rule, this time, we genuinely want to know where you stand—whether you are in favour or against having a McDonald's on the picturesque Safety Beach Foreshore. Your opinion matters greatly to us, and we're eager to grasp your sentiment on this matter.
 
From our standpoint, we have witnessed the adverse effects of such situations and their impact on other areas where McDonald's stores exist. 
 
Local small businesses suffer, and it becomes easier for children to indulge in unhealthy, addictive foods. Moreover, we have observed significant increases in environmental pollution, not limited to waste alone. We must consider the overall ambience, noise pollution, and the unpleasant sight it brings. The existing traffic congestion problem is already a headache. Introducing a fast-food giant in that bottleneck location would only exacerbate matters.
 
Let's be honest here - fast-food companies thrive on convenience. Once they establish their presence, making your voice heard is an uphill battle. Time is short. Surfboat racing; what an iconic Australian beach sport with roots stemming back over 100 years. While the conditions weren't massive at Ocean Grove for the Senior State Carnival last weekend, there is no denying it's tough work and a skilled sweep is vital! Well done Point Leo for bringing home a few medals too.

Fantastic weekend at Ocean Grove for the VIctoria 2023 Senior Lifesaving Championships. It's a three day event, with hundreds of competitors taking part in a wide range of exciting surf sports. Huge congratulations to all competitors from Point Leo for their outstanding team spirit and commitment, not to mention that too from coaches, officials, water safety, trailer driver and families! Next weekend is Juniors in Warrnambool - it's going to be big!

Thanks to my mum and three sisters for enduring my portrait sessions when I was a young amateur! Rather fitting I came across these today given it was IWD yesterday. It did lead to some procrastination sifting through my folders of negatives and contact sheets from 20 years ago, prior to the invention of digital cameras. Beats going through 27 hard drives! These beauties have always, and will continue to inspire and support me.
