Wow what an amazing show theatre followers of Alton got to see - a phenomenal performance of Legally Blonde by AODS Alton Operatic Dramatic Society - Dementia-friendly Alton as new managers of Alton Assembly Rooms are so pleased to be able to support this important group within the town. Next production for them in November will be Ghost Train. Until then there's plenty happening at Alton Assembly Rooms - still tickets left for Cara Dillon 12 July as part of Alton Arts Festival , Charity Fundraising Quiz to support Dementia friendly Alton being organised by Newbury Building Society on 19 July and Pumpkin Pantos are hosting a summer panto on 18 August 😁

After the success of our very first 'film night ' where over 40 locals enjoyed a relaxed performance of Oppenheimer, we are so excited that our next film on 5th May - 6.30 for 7 pm will be Anatomy of a Fall - tickets just £6.00 with licensed bar. Do join us on the night. Training sessions are starting at the newly refurbished Alton Assembly Rooms too, in collaboration with Community First East Hampshire - register with community first to attend the mental health first aid course on Friday 10th May. Another exciting development is the regular Social Prescribers surgery every Monday from 1230-1430 - theres so much going on - do pop in to find out more !

After a busy weekend hosting a very special birthday party, the venue - also the home of Dementia-friendly Alton - continues to host amazing events for the community - early morning (9-10 am) Yoga with Sue Tupper on Wednesday (book on 07946 078559), inaugural Zumba Gold with Hampshire Dance Fitness from 1130-1230 on Thursday and Friday night dance with The Dance Sanctuary 7 pm - KEEP MOVING!

What a fantastic evening we had last night being treated to a stunning performance of Amadeus by Churcher's College . The young cast were so professional and all who attended were amazed. Despite some misinformation circulating on Facebook yesterday morning claiming the fair's cancellation, I'm here to set the record straight – the Teddy Bear Fair is most definitely ON! 🎉

Mark your calendars for Sunday, June 23rd, because that's when all the fun is happening. 🗓️ I'm thrilled to share that we've already received numerous bookings for the fair, and let me tell you, it's shaping up to be an incredible event.

So, please disregard any misleading statements you might come across. Trust me, you won't want to miss out on what we have in store. Get ready for a day filled with teddy bear magic, excitement, and more cuddles than you can handle! 🐻✨

Saturday morning from 10.30-12.30 there's the Listening Event in Alton: Saturday 3rd February 2024 in regards to hospital proposals for Basingstoke - so do come along to that to find out more
Sunday morning Dementia-friendly Alton will be on hand from 10-12 with open house for anyone interested in finding out about plans for the Assembly Rooms or interested in volunteering - we would love to see you !
Sunday afternoon there's Sound Bathing with Jez at Ancient Sounds . Something everyday at this newly refurbished venue.
And if all that wasn't enough next Wednesday evening Hampshire Dance Fitness returns with Zumba from 7-8 pm - are you ready !

The new management team ( Dementia-friendly Alton ) at the Alton Assembly Rooms were so pleased to provide the venue yesterday for the very popular Jane Austen Birthday Ball. Organised by the Jane Austen Regency Week committee, this glorious event, which is well attended by people from across the country and even internationally - as The Hampshire Regency Dancers - HRD and associated musicians transport the atmosphere to something akin to Bridgerton. Over 90 people dancing and laughing in their fine gowns and suits - a sight to behold. So pleased to be able to support this event and look forward to the next one in June 2024 - tickets will be available soon via Alton Community Centre

Very excited to report that the refurbishment of the venue is progressing well - just in time to support upcoming events. Starting to look 'fresh and welcoming' for the Winter Lunch and Jane Austen Ball next weekend; the regular Wrestling is due at end of January and is already sold out ! February 3rd we welcome the Hampshire and IOW Integrated Care Board as part of their consultation regarding the proposed new hospital - click on link below to book your space. At end of February we're also pleased to be hosting another fundraising quiz for Alton Arts Festival - tickets can be booked via Goldfinch Books . And of course very excited to remain the 'Home' of Alton Operatic and Dramatic society - AODS as they prepare for their next production Legally Blonde - really looking forward to that. What a great first couple of days at the Alton Assembly Rooms the new home for Dementia-friendly Alton . Our members - people living with dementia and their carers, have loved rolling up their sleeves and helping with the Big Clean Up as we start our refurbishment in partnership with Alton Town Council. It's all coming together beautifully - which is just as well - lots happening on the weekend of 13/14 January - the doors will be open morning and afternoon as always for local residents to come in and have a look at what we're up to and make suggestions as part of our public consultation process. Over lunchtime on 13th Jan we are hosting the Winter Warmer lunch for 100 local residents on behalf of the Town Council - planning to give them all a most wonderful time xx In the evening it's the Jane Austen Birthday Ball - have you got your tickets yet - we're so looking forward to show casing the initial stages of the 'new look' to this important Alton venue that evening, to guests who will come from far afield. Sunday 14 Jan you can book in for the am or pm induction to volunteering with Dementia friendly Alton.
