A word from our host:

Lost for words is a bit of an understatement for how i feel, but I'm going to try my best anyway.

Thank you so, SO much to everyone who made Slaughterfest YEG a massive success. It's been years since I've hosted it, but clearly bringing it back was the right choice. I owe a ton of gratitude to Tyson and the rest of the Starlite/Concertworks crew for their support through this whole thing, but most importantly to Kim who truly kept it together, especially my sanity!

I always expect the worst and hope for the best, but truly all my expectations were exceeded, and then some. To all the bands that performed both nights, I thank you for everything.

I've spent 17 years grinding with Display Of Decay and now have an opportunity to help elevate new and up-and-coming talent, giving multiple bands an opportunity to make their debut which is all SLAUGHTERFEST is about.

To everyone who came out to support this weekend, I appreciate every single one of you so much. Every handshake, fist bump, middle finger. You guys made this happen, not me.

Until next time. SLAUGHTERFEST YEG will return in 2025 🤘

Ashes Of Yggdrasil

Hailing from the frozen prairies of Western Canada, Ashes of Yggdrasil, are a melodic death metal band, with hints of all sorts on genres making appearances. WE FIRST CAME ONTO THE SCENE WITH OUR EP "THE PATH" AND SUPPORTED IT WITH SHOWS AROUND THE LAKELAND AREA, AND EVENTUALLY BREAKING INTO THE EDMONTON SCENE. SINCE THEN, WE RELEASED our full length album titled "Bearing the Pelt of the Wolf King'' WHICH CAME OUT OCTOBER, 2021. It is primarily a norse themed melodic death metal release, but with a thrashy, blackened feel throughout. All members brought hints of the non melodeath genres that they love into the writing process, and fused them into the songs on the album. The making of this album was mired in the swamps of the pandemic for some time, but all members trooped through it and wrote an encompassing melodic journey of norse tales and lore.
