We’re thrilled to announce that our guest DJ for this Speakeasy is Joopop from Korea!
Joopop, a powerhouse in Korea’s dance scene with 18 years of experience as a popping dancer, is joining us at Speakeasy! Known for his electrifying performances and deep understanding of the synergy between music and dance, Joopop has been rocking street dance battles and party DJ gigs for 12 years while teaching at an academy. With his unique mix of genres, he’s a top name in Korea’s dance battle DJ scene.
Get ready to dance barefoot and enjoy the summer vibes at Speakeasy!

My sister Mao and I had the honor of organizing this month’a edition.

For July, SE collaborated with a venture company by the name of Roots in Field to create a space that conceptualized a crossover between "plants × art × music"

In addition, we welcomed guest dancer Si4 for a special dance session, ultimately involving the entire audience and lighting up the party💃🕺🪩🎶.

活かしたダンサーライクな選曲を得意とする。
現在は東京を中心に全国各地のクラブやラウンジ、
また企業やアパレルブランド等のレセプションパーティーや日本最大級のダンスバトルでのバトルDJまで、
幅広いフィールドで活動中。

While working as a dancer, he started his career
as a DJ in 2010.
He prefers to play on vinyl records and specializes in music selections that dancers like, such as HIPHOP, R&B, SOUL, FUNK, and DISCO, utilizing his experience as a dancer.

Currently, he is active in a wide range of fields, from DJing at clubs and lounges in Tokyo and other cities of Japan, to DJing at reception party for corporations and apparel brands, and battle DJing at one of the biggest dance battles in Japan.

【Speakeasy Familyの皆様へ】

先日の吉祥寺音楽祭×SpeakeasyTYO、そしてアフターパーティのDig Bowlはお楽しみ頂けましたでしょうか？
今回パーティのディレクションを担当させて頂いたSpeakeasyTYO CrewのZabuです。

年齢、性別、国籍、人種も様々な方々が街の一角に集まり、飲んで踊って楽しむ様子が正にブロックパーティさながらで、Speakeasyらしい雰囲気が出ていたのではないかなと思います🤫
今年の1月から練り始めて、山あり谷ありでしたが、なんとか無事に終わってホッと一息です。一重にCrewの皆の多大なるサポートと、この機会をくださった吉祥寺音楽祭/Dig Bowl、何より会場に足を運んでくださった皆さんあってのパーティでした、ありがとうございます！！

また、気づけばSpeakeasyTYOが発足して以来の古株メンバーの1人となっていた（もう1人はL君）のですが、今回をもってガッツリと運営に入る役割から離れる事にしました😌🙏
※辞めるわけではありません！抱える負担を少し手放す事にしました

そもそも僕が運営にいる事すら知らない方がほとんどだったと思いますが、今後はより一層自身の活動に主軸を置きつつ、Speakeasyを今までとは異なる角度から盛り上げられる様に頑張ります〜！

東京Partyのシーンにおいてクラブシーンとは一味違う独自の切り口で寄与するDJ
JR高架下プロジェクト商場の音楽空間プロデュースからMillennials Hotelのサウンドシステム導入、宮古島や八丈島を中心とする旅行×食×PartyのRelaxなど活動は多岐にわたる。
NYCのブロックパーティーを意識したParty とラウンジDJの活動を軸に
ジャンルレスな空間をつくっている。

A DJ who contributes to the Tokyo party scene with a unique approach that sets them apart from the club scene. His activities span a wide range, from curating music spaces for JR railway shopping mall to implementing sound systems at the Millennials Hotel, and organizing relaxed travel, food, and party experiences in places like Miyako Island and Hachijo Island.
They create genre-defying spaces, focusing on parties.

幼少期よりアメリカと日本を行き来してきた多文化アーティスト。
ダンス、DJ、イベントオーガナイズにおいて国内外で存在感を確立している。 東京でダンスを始め、ニューヨークのクラブやストリートカルチャーにどっぷりと浸かって以来、ダンス、音楽、文化、歴史を情熱的に探求し続けている。 文化や歴史を尊重するだけでなく体現することを志し、先輩・後輩関係なく仲間と一緒にシーンを盛り上げるために日々動いている。

A multicultural artist who has lived back and forth between the U.S. and Japan since childhood.
Joki has established a noticeable level of presence in Japan and abroad in dance, DJing, and event organization. He began dancing in Tokyo and immersed himself in the clubs and street culture of New York City, where he has since continued to passionately explore dance, music, culture, and history. He aspires not only to respect but also to embody culture and history, and works daily with his peers, both senior and junior, to empower the scene.

Currently repping both The Breakdown and Speakeasy Tokyo parties, Tagg’s been spinning fun music for nearly 25 years. With initial roots in hip hop, opening for rap artists in the Southwest U.S. in the early 2000s, Tagg moved to Japan in 2013 and has been rocking events with an uptempo blend of hip hop, house, soul, disco and other good music across the Kanto region for the last 10 years!

現在The BreakdownとSpeakeasyTYOのメンバーとして活動するDJ Tagg。ダンスフロアを盛り上げ続けて約25年。ルーツはヒップホップ、2000年代初頭にはアメリカ南西部のラップアーティストの前座などで活躍し、2013年に日本に移住。ヒップホップ、ハウス、ソウル、ディスコなど、ジャンルをまたぐアップテンポなプレイでイベントをロックするベテランDJである。

【Introducing "Kichijoji Music Festival"】🏮⛩️
The Kichijoji Music Festival started in 1986, and it is a festival of creation and culture that connects the past and the present through music and sends a message to the future🏮 It is held in the whole area of Kichijoji from May 3rd to 5th every year.

The new catchphrase for 2024 is
"Live in the moment. Don't forget the old.
Create something new."
You can enjoy music contents for 3days
in various areas of Kichijoji.

SpeakeasyTYO will collaborate with Kichijoji Music Festival on Sunday May 5 1pm-5pm.

会場奥の扉の向こうにあるParty Roomではアーティストコミュニティ「Evergreen Collective」によるインスタレーションをお楽しみ頂けます🎨
当日はボーリングを楽しむもよし、お酒を飲みながらパーティーを楽しむのもよし、Party Roomでアートを浴びるのもよし。
是非会場内を練りあるいてお楽しみください♬

5月のSpeakeasyTYOはなんと吉祥寺駅周辺が音楽コンテンツで包まれる「吉祥寺音楽祭」とコラボレーション、屋外エリアでブロックパーティを開催します‼️
その日の夜は同じく吉祥寺にあるミラーボールのあるボーリング場「Dig Bowl Kichijoji」でアフターパーティーもあります🪩
他にも吉祥寺駅周辺に様々なコンテンツが目白押し。この日は昼から夜までどっぷり音楽に浸る素敵な1日を一緒に楽しみましょう🤫

In May, SpeakeasyTYO will collaborate with the Kichijoji Music Festival, where the area around Kichijoji Station will be filled with music content and a block party will be held in the outdoor area‼️
There will also be an after party that evening at Dig Bowl Kichijoji, a bowling alley with mirror balls, also in Kichijoji 🪩
