🎅🏻I don’t know about you, but I’m planning to SHOP LOCAL as much as possible this holiday season, and this is great way to check something off your list early.

🌲Our wreaths are full, fluffy, and over the top gorgeous. Better than anything you’ll find at chain stores for sure. All greens are harvested by yours truly and wreaths are made by hand and with love.😘

🌸GUESS WHAT?!

➡️We will have FRESH FLOWERS this Saturday at !💐

I am overwhelmed by the kindness of Jessica at . She, her mom, and her daughter drove up to Black Mountain today with a load of fresh cut mums from her farm and other piedmont flower farms.

❤️She said she felt led to do something to help.

Jessica, along with a group of flower farmers I’ve never met, gave us their own flowers so that we can make up lost income from the last month. That is super humbling. God provides in the sweetest most unexpected ways, and I am overwhelmed by His goodness. He just continues to bless our farm and our family.

Jess, you were the hands and feet of Jesus to me today. Thank you.❤️‍🩹

Hey, BMT… Y’all showed UP today! It was so surreal being back at . Weird and also really good. I felt so much love… the way you have cared about me and my farm truly means the world. And hearing all your stories today… it’s just unbelievable. What a strange season we are in. So much pain and devastation but so much love and serving ans kindness.

In the last 24 hours, we have raised $805 for and . That’s incredible, y’all. I am humbled. I’ve never been more proud to be from Black Mountain.

🌼In “the language of flowers,” daffodils symbolize “new beginnings.” That is exactly what our mountain communities need right now.

💛In the WTF Flower Shop, we are selling bags of 10 specialty daffodil bulbs that are ready to plant. Varieties include some of our farm favorites: Precocious, Delnashaugh, Cheerfullness, Sir Winston Churchill, Geranium, and more. All of these varieties are long stemmed and fragrant and will return year after year, reminding us of a time we needed “new beginnings” more than ever.🌼

🙌100% of every purchase will go towards hurricane relief. We will be donating to our friends at who are on a mission to feed folks in vulnerable mountain communities with nutritious, farm-grown food. We will also donate to . Swannanoa Valley Christian Ministries are helping provide money to pay bills and purchase necessities for those in need in our Valley. SVCM will play a vital long-term role in helping our community rebuild what was lost.💛

So… this is happening. I’m going to bring everything I have.

Please consider coming out to support your local farmers… every single one of us has been affected by Helene and has lost significant income.

If you’ve ever shopped then you know what a special place it is. I would love to see you there. I have no doubt it will be a special time of reunion, encouragement, and joy.

I have found myself mourning over even the small, seemingly silly things. Like not having a pretty porch this fall. Instead of mums and pumpkins, we have wet towels, filthy shoes, a wet vac and generator chords. I’m not complaining; just observing… and feeling loss.

I was asked to do flowers twice this week, and it just feels… weird… out of place… maybe even wrong. I’ve never felt that before in regard to my flowers. They were good asks: the prayer tent at church… our dear friends at .refillery trying to support our farm.

I’m trying to feel excited about getting to spread beauty again this week… but it’s not happening. It feels insignificant and small… worthless even.

How can joy and beauty coexist with such pain and destruction? I know it’s possible… it’s life. And I have seen it with my own eyes so many times over the last two weeks, but I’m having trouble seeing it this morning.

I wish I had some positive way to wrap up these ramblings. But I don’t. This is life right now. It’s awful and messy and beautiful and full of love and just hard.

The Hite family is alive and well! We had 5 large trees fall on our property but none hit our home. The farm is in pretty bad shape, but we will rebuild. Also my folks are fine and so is their home. Neighbors have graded our road and made it passable so we are able to get to town. We have food and filtered creek water and are doing ok.

We have very limited communication for now. This is the first time I have been able access IG in town and am unable to respond to email. Needless to say, no more fresh flowers this season. If you have an outstanding order with us that we could not fulfill this week, you will be refunded as soon as possible.

For members: Wes has the clinic open M-F, 9-noon. The clinic has power. No water, no internet so services are limited. Cassidy will be monitoring Spruce messages as she is safe in TN.

Our community is devastated… especially Swannanoa and Montreat. Many have lost homes, property, and vehicles. Many have lost their lives. Things are starting to move in a positive direction. Cleanup is underway. Folks from all over are hear helping to restore water and power. We need your prayers!
