Sad to announce that I have decided to not go ahead with the Robbie Jansen tribute show for this year, as planned in September.
The reason for that is that I have become super busy (yes, during winter too) and have not had enough time to work on everything in order to make sure that this turns out to be a great show.

BUT I have gotten most things sorted over the last few months - proposal, planning, etc. So the show will be taking place in 2025 at Artscape! And it will be great! :)

I have been blessed with many opportunities over the last few months and I am very thankful for everyone who I have crossed paths with, good and bad. But here's to a better future!

I've got lots to share, but once I've settled down a bit you'll get to know about it :)

What an incredible time I had in Zimbabwe with some of the most amazing musicians from all of South Africa.
The Vine celebrated their 10 year birthday with a bang and had over 100 musicians part of the celebration in Harare.

This was absolutely beautiful!

So I was booked to play at the Strab Festival in Mozambique and it was nothing short of amazing!
It's always been a place I wanted to visit, and then look at God!

Here's a young Scenery Session for you guys. I don't have a title for this song that I made up on the spot, nor do I have an official number of the scenery session. As it is not Cape Town (or anywhere in South Africa) I don't think it qualifies as a Scenery Session.
But it is still scenic :)

I need some suggestions as to what the name of this tune will be.
Give it a go!

I came across this track by Basil “Mannenberg” Coetzee on an LP that I got from uncle George Werner.
The album was released in 1987.

The tune absolutely blew me away!
I had to learn what was happening!

So here’s my take at transcribing the solo by the great Basil Coetzee on tenor sax.

Don’t you just love how much goodness came out of South Africa! 🙆🏽‍♂️

Yoh this guy was something else!
And this is why I feel the need to have a tribute show to tell the story about his life and music.

I’ve got the Nassau Centre booked for the 24th of Sept. 2024. Please save the date and I’ll let you know when tickets are made available.

This is going to be a really good one!!

I don’t often get the opportunity to play some jazz but when I do - I go for gold.

I always miss playing this sort of music and I always feel a great sense of joy while playing it. Unfortunately it doesn’t really pay all the bills in Cape Town.

Here’s a snippet with a band from the UK. Thanks to Lee Thompson for the booking and the great vibes!!

WOULD YOU HAVE A LOOK AT THIS BACKDROP?!! Here's a video of one of the many weddings we've played at so far this year. Cerwyn and Steffi tied the knot this day :) One thing I love about weddings is how everyone comes together to celebrate the union of a newly wed couple. It always helps having an amazing band to join you and make it even more extra special. Here we are playing one of my own compositions - O's Gat Kaap Toe. The band is just brilliant! Brathew van Schalkwyk on keys Keno Carelse on drums Peter Ndlala on bass If you were wondering, the song will be released on The Ploemies album very soon! :)

Just another day doing what I do... Weddings are so much fun when you have a crowd like this!
