A cherished event that honors St. Joseph, patron saint of workers and families, promises a day filled with tradition, community and generosity.
The 47th annual Feast of St. Joseph celebration takes place March 10 at The Copeland Center, 2306 Fourth St. in Wyandotte.
The festivities begin at 2 p.m. with the welcoming of attendees from across the region to partake in the beloved Sicilian tradition.
Guests will be treated to a serving of Sicilian pasta and bean dish, accompanied by an orange and a bread roll. The food, symbolizing abundance and unity, will be blessed by a Catholic priest, adding a sacred touch to the celebration.
A suggested donation of $20 per person will be accepted at the door, with all proceeds directly benefiting the local charities dedicated to assisting children and needy families within the community.
“The spirit of giving and solidarity will be at the forefront of this event, echoing the values exemplified by St. Joseph himself,” said Leslie Lupo, president of the Downriver Italian American Club. “The Feast of St. Joseph holds deep significance in Italian-American communities, particularly those with strong ties to Sicilian heritage.”
Lupo added that the annual gathering serves as a testament to the enduring traditions and cultural richness that continue to thrive in Wyandotte.
“Join us as we come together to honor St. Joseph and support those in need within our community,” Lupo said. “Together, let us make this happen year’s Feast of St. Joseph a memorable and impactful occasion.”
Sam Randazzo and Grace Pizzo, organizers of this year’s celebration, are extending a warm welcome to the public, encouraging attendees to bring along their family and friends for a day of camaraderie and goodwill.
