Station to Station - A new South Perth food and wine precinct brings style, and substance, to a rapidly evolving inner city neighbourhood.
This exciting new hospitality project by two of Perth’s most ambitious restaurant entrepreneurs, melding heritage architecture with contemporary design and has put South Perth on the city’s food and wine radar.
It is a multi-venue, seven-day operation built around a restored, heritage-listed former 1908 police station and officers’ quarters with a sophisticated 130-seat restaurant in the basement, a modern pub upstairs and a substantial al fresco footprint devoted to casual food and entertainment. The Station has been conceived as a fun venue that will, at the same time, take food and wine with a European edge very seriously.
At the joyous heart of The Station is Ludo, a smart sub-terrain restaurant named for head chef Ludovic “Ludo” Mulot who joined NOKTURNL in 2020 after nearly 10 years with Rockpool Bar & Grill in Sydney and then Perth.
Ludo promises adventurous, globally inspired food built around classic French technique and, as much as possible, WA produce. Think Western Rock lobster eclair with tarragon, celery and caviar, or Wagin duck sausage with sautéed red cabbage, apple and red wine jus. Surprising, yet at the same time, familiar.
At ground level, a variety of different zones will reflect Perth’s love of good food and wine in relaxed, stimulating spaces: a contemporary vision of the egalitarian Australian pub with a splash of sophisticated cafe thrown in for good measure: The Station will open for breakfast daily in 2024.
