We're taking a break from weddings. | Rosita & LaRonda We are event florists, growing our own flowers as a part of the Farmer Florist surge bringing foxglove, larkspur, and garden roses back to the American people. ;) Our floral season runs for the months of June-September. Our passion is to provide the community with fresh, beautiful flowers for your happiest days. And maybe the sad ones, too.

We didn't know what to call ourselves, but as we were out digging in the dirt one evening planting Peonies and Lilacs, we decided that "Root" should be somewhere in the title. So, on a warm September evening, Root Design Company was born. Seasonal blooms are our specialty. We are based in Southeastern Ohio, and our season begins in June and ends in September.

Every Thursday when I'm done making bouquets to sell on Friday I have a stack of leftover flowers that don't look like much. Several times now, I've taken that stack of leftovers and actually turned it into a bouquet.

I've had to push the boundaries of color palettes, but it's the perfect low stakes chance to experiment and find new color combinations I like.

LaRonda makes a gorgeous spring bouquet in our latest YouTube video. We're also talking about two questions we often get: how to stake flowers, and what the path and bed sizes are in our gardens.

LaRonda goes for a quick forage on her morning walk and makes a bouquet with her findings. Then the two sisters sit down to chat about what size garden beds ...

Mother West Wind blew 3 of my seedling trays off the deck this morning. They were being transitioned to the garden through a process called hardening off. I spent the morning tucking tiny lisianthus seedlings back into their trays and sorting scabiosa, basil, clarkia, and silene. But give me a cup of coffee and a good podcast and I’ll call it a morning well spent.

I have a smallish garden and want to grow a large-ish variety of crops, so my solution is “just a little of everything”. Hence the snapdragons are getting cozy with the foxglove.

The bunny who snacked my ranunculus into oblivion has been taken care of. It rains on the just and the unjust here in Arkansas this morning… a perfect day for laundry, emails, seeding tomatoes, and working on a new video for YouTube.

Does anybody else feel like a slave to their garden these days? 😅

I can’t get any traction on a couple of creative projects I want to finish for the over abundance of tomatoes and green beans coming out of the garden.

I’ve come to see in myself, after years of growing cut flowers, that there is a fine line every season between joy at the first blooms and suddenly wanting to rip it all out by the roots. 😂

It’s these hot days in the middle of a season, when the undone tasks of spring have come back to haunt us, that quitting has never looked so good.

But I keep telling myself: just do the next thing. The “magic” will return.

If you must know, my big fail of the season was not staking the dahlias in time… or any other flower for that matter. Do tell, what is yours? 😂

Ever wondered how to set up a drip irrigation system for your garden? LaRonda has a great, informative video on that today. Set yourself up for success, while saying goodbye (and good riddance!) to all those tangled garden hoses.

We've always been in favor of using natural methods to grow our flowers. We've used tons of compost and skipped the chemical ridden bug sprays. But recently we've discovered Korean natural farming and are intrigued.

In today's video, LaRonda talks about the methods we've used over the years. Plus she's dipping her toe into Korean natural farming herself and making her own water soluble calcium with eggshells and apple cider vinegar.

Sharing our favorite organic fertilizers and pesticides for growing chemical free flowers, fruits, and veggies, plus a quick tutorial to make your own calci...

Need some spring planter inspiration? LaRonda's putting planters together in our video today. I'm potting up a few plants, as well, and making time for a little creativity in the form of hand embroidery.

Today we DIY a porch planter and relax with an embroidery project while dodging hail stones and holding puppies... or something like that. It's a little bit ...

Our Story

We are wedding and event florists, and are a part of the Farmer Florist surge bringing foxglove, larkspur, and garden roses back to the American people. ;) From the months of May-September, we have farm fresh bouquets, generally available the day after you place an order. We also do occasional pop-up flower shops. Seasonal blooms are our specialty, but we don't limit ourselves only to what is in season. We would love to meet with you and dream about the designs for your special day! We are based in Southeastern Ohio, but we are open to booking events in other areas! Our season begins in May and ends in October.
