Smart artists will continue to connect with fans after live touring returns with virtual events that won't burn touring. In fact, it will help them sell more in-person tickets.

A new survey from Bandsintown reported that 86% of fans have watched at least one music livestream within the past 12 months, while 31% have streamed seven or more. 62% have paid for a livestream, while 55% say they will continue watching even when physical concerts return.

The key will be to build virtual events that connect with fans on a deeper level. Providing fans an event they could never experience in a live setting (because you wouldn't tour an entire album in your catalog or do a set of duets with other artists).

We have been privileged to work with artists and teams who see what this model can bring to the fans. Not to mention the ancillary income and branding opportunities to the artist. And did we mention the sponsorship possibilities??

NOW is the time to start building this model for your artists!

“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.” ‭‭- Galatians‬ ‭5:1‬ ‭

As I’ve been learning the history of Juneteenth, I am amazed at how many delays enslaved people endured just getting the news of their freedom.

January of 1863 Lincoln issues the emancipation proclamation. But.. the war is still going on. Enforcement of the proclamation was slow and inconsistent. April of 1865, Lee surrenders, April/May 1865 the war is over but even that’s a little fuzzy.

June 19, 1865, Union commander General Gordon Granger comes to Galveston and announces to the people of Texas... one of the remotest confederate states, that they are free. What is known as Juneteenth.
But it wasn’t until December of 1865 that the 13th amendment was ratified abolishing slavery in all states.

Are we free or not? I can only imagine what this time was like for enslaved people who hoped, waited, and endured delay after delay, and gradual enforcement of what had already been proclaimed. To be free and not know it. To be free and not be able to live out that freedom... I don’t know whether to say Happy Juneteenth or Happy Freedom Day or Happy Free-ish Day.

The perseverance and patience and long-suffering of African-Americans in our country is a glory to behold.
