PKL FINAL 1, Jaipur Pink Panthers vs Puneri Paltan, Full Match Report



Jaipur Pink Panthers defeated a formidable Puneri Paltan 33-29 to win their second Pro Kabaddi League title after eight years at NSCI Dome, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Indoor Stadium, Mumbai. The inaugural champions become the second most successful team of the league after Patna Pirates with two titles in their kitty. The game started slowly with both teams being cautious in their approach. It was Puneri Paltan who started leading the game early on but Jaipur Pink Panthers started making inroads with an 8-7 lead in the 13th minute. All-rounder Nabibaksh came with a dual role as he first tackled Ajith Kumar and then got Sahul Kumar during his raid with Puneri Paltan leading 10-8. Jaipur Pink Panthers retaliated with Ajith doing a 2-point raid and Reza taking out Akash Shinde in the 19th minute. The first half ended with Jaipur Pink Panthers taking a 14-12 lead. Puneri Paltan conceded an early ALL-OUT in the second half as Jaipur took out both remaining players. After the all-out Puneri Paltan were quick to retaliate as Akash Shinde came up with a 2-point raid. Substitute Aditya Shinde came on the mat to take a quick point as Puneri Paltan reduced the score to 19-23. The back and forth between the two teams ensured that none of them had a clear advantage. Puneri Paltan tried their best to chase the game but Jaipur's smartness kept them away. Jaipur held on to their lead in the last crunch moments to take away the trophy. Jaipur skipper Sunil tackled Akash Shinde in the last seconds which looked like a wrestling bout and that was the crowning moment for Jaipur Pink Panthers.

Semi-final 2, Puneri Paltan vs Tamil Thalaivas, Match Preview



Puneri Paltan qualified for the semi-finals after finishing second in the league stage. During the league stage, Puneri Paltan were involved in two thrilling matches against Tamil Thalaivas. They won one of those games 35-34 and lost the other by the same scoreline. However, they will be confident about winning on Thursday, especially with their attack looking strong with their raiding trio of Aslam Inamdar (138 raid points), Akash Shinde (131 raid points) and Mohit Goyat (120 raid points). They are defensively solid as well with captain Fazel Atrachali leading the way with 51 tackle points. Semi-final 1, Jaipur Pink Panthers vs Bengaluru Bulls, Match Preview



After topping the standings at the end of the league stage, Jaipur Pink Panthers will be eager to continue their fine form this season in the semi-final against Bengaluru Bulls. The Panthers have already beaten the Bulls once in the ongoing campaign but they’ve also lost once against the southerners. Sarfaraz Khan and Tanush Kotian starred as Mumbai beat Himachal Pradesh by 3 wickets to win their maiden Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Sarfaraz scored 36 runs, while Kotian claimed three wickets as Mumbai beat Himachal Pradesh at the Eden Gardens. Mumbai skipper Ajinkya Rahane won the toss and opted to field first. Mohit Avasthi provided Mumbai will an early breakthrough, getting rid of Himachal’s wicket-keeping opener Ankush Bains in the second over. Sumeet Verma was the next to walk back to the pavilion as Mumbai piled the pressure on Himachal Pradesh. Beginning the day, pacer Kuldeep Sen took the last two Saurashtra wickets early on the fourth day of the Irani Cup. Chasing a target of 105 for victory, Abhimanyu Easwaran hit an unbeaten 63 while Srikar Bharat played a knock of 27 not out as ROI chased down a target of 105 inside 32 overs with eight wickets to spare. The Rest of India side dominated the preceding right from the opening day when they bowled Saurashtra for 98. The 2019-20 Ranji Trophy Champions produced a slightly better performance with the bat in the second innings. The lower-order batters led by captain Jaydev Unadkat's 89 showed resistance and his eight-wicket partnership with Prerak Mankad (72) pushed Saurashtra into the lead but ROI were always just two wickets away from turning the game in their favour. Sen set the ball rolling by trapping Parth Bhut in front of the stumps. Unadkat then became his fifth wicket as Saurashtra were bowled out for 380 in their second innings. Needing 105 for victory, Unadkat dismissed ROI batters Priyank Panchal and Yash Dhull early to spark a little hope for his team but a steady Easwaran combined with Bharat to s***f out Saurashtra's challenge.

India produced a superb display on the concluding day of the Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham on Monday. Shuttlers PV Sindhu and Lakshya Sen won gold medal in their respective singles matches. CWG, Commonwealth Games 2022 Day 10 Highlights:

It was yet another splendid outing for India at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham on Monday, which also was the penultimate day of the quadrennial event. India's biggest medal prospect Nikhat Zareen secured a gold in the women's 50kg bout. She was not the only pugilist with the yellow metal on their neck, as Amit Panghal and Nitu Ghangas also won the gold medal in their respective final bouts. However, Sagar, who competes in the heavyweight division, had to be content with the silver medal after going down against England's Delicious Orie. The pair of Sharath Kamal and Sreeja Akula won a gold in the mixed doubles table tennis event. However, the men's doubles pair of Sharath and G Sathiyan had to be content with a silver in their event. The Indian women's hockey team also ended their 16-year-long wait for a CWG medal as they defeated New Zealand to win bronze. A historic moment was witnessed in men's triple jump as India's Eldhose Paul and Abdullah Aboobacker clinched gold and silver respectively. Sandeep Kumar won bronze in Men's 10 km Race Walk, Annu Rani also won bronze in women's javelin. The pair of Dipika Pallikal and Saurav Ghosal won the bronze medal in squash mixed doubles. CWG 2022 Day 9 Highlights:

Vinesh Phogat, Ravi Dahiya and Naveen won gold medals in wrestling at the Commonwealth Games 2022. Ravi produced a commanding display against Nigeria's Ebikewenimo Welson and secured a 10-0 win in the men's 57kg final. Vinesh defeated Sri Lanka wrester for a gold in women's 53kg freestyle event. Naveen secured gold after beating Pakistan's Muhammad Sharif Tahir via technical superiority in men's 74kg final. Bajrang Punia has won his second consecutive Commonwealth Games gold by winning the 65kg final. Murali Sreeshankar's monstrous jump of 8.08m helped him win a silver medal in the men's long jump finals. Commonwealth Games 2022 Day 6 Highlights:

Saurav Ghosal became the first Indian squash player to win an individual medal at the Commonwealth Games. The veteran beat England's 2018 gold medallist James Willstrop 3-0 to win bronze. He was the second Indian player to win a medal on Wednesday after weightlifter Lovepreet Singh won bronze in men's 109kg weightlifting earlier. Shortly after Ghosal's win, judoka Tulika Maan became the second Indian to win silver in the Games. Day 5, Commonwealth Games 2022, CWG: Golds in Lawn Bowls, TT, Silver for Vikas Thakur & Badminton

CWG 2022 Day 5 Highlights:

It was a historic day for India as the country won its first medal in Lawn Bowls. The team comprising Nayanmoni Saikia, Pinki, Lovely Choubey and Rupa Rani Tirkey defeated South Africa 17-10 in the women's four Lawn Bowls final to win gold medal. The men's table tennis team secured country's second gold medal of the day. G Sathiyan and Harmeet Desai were clinical, winning their singles and double matches as India defeat Singapore 3-1 in the final. Vikas Thakur added another medal in weightlifting as he won the silver medal in men's 96kg event. The Indian shuttlers also secured a silver medal in the mixed team finals. The team went down 1-3 against Malaysia in the final.

It was a spectacular outing for the India weightlifters with trailblazer Mirabai Chanu setting the perfect tone at the Commonwealth Games 2022. She secured a gold medal in the women's 49kg weightlifting final, which was also India's first yellow metal in the ongoing edition. Her best lifts were 88kg (sn**ch) and 113kg (clean and jerk). Sanket Sargar and Bindyarani Devi won silver medals in the men's and women's 55kg weightlifting event. Gururaja Poojary also a weightlifter bagged bronze in the men's 61 kg finals.

CWG 2022, Day 4 Highlights: India continued their rich medal haul at the Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham, however, no gold medal was secured on Day 4. Judoka Sushila Devi opened the account on Day 4 after clincing a silver medal in the women's 48kg finals. Soon after her feat, judoka Vijay Yadav secured a bronze medal in the men's 60kg division. The final medal of the day was won by weightlifter Harjinder Kaur, who secured bronze in the women's 71kg finals. Those were the three medals won by India on Day 4 as the tally rises to nine (G-3, S-3, B-3). India also enjoyed an splendid outing in almost all the racket sport. The shuttlers advanced to the finals of the mixed-team event, which saw both PV Sindhu and Lakshya Sen win their respective single matches. The men's table-tennis team defeated Nigeria to book a berth in the finals, where they will meet Singapore in the gold medal match. Saurav Ghosal advanced to the semifinals of the men's singles squash event. The women's Lawn Bowls players created history earlier in the day, becoming the first batch to secure India's maiden medal in the sport.
