Hello Jai Theppers! It's been a while, so we wanted to give you an update...

We have been waiting patiently for the Covid-19 situation to improve in Thailand, but the opposite has sadly happened - the situation here is probably worse than it's ever been, with case records being broken daily. Domestic flights have mostly been cancelled and not a high enough percentage of people have been able to be vaccinated so far. Thailand is essentially shut to everyone who doesn't want to go through an expensive quarantine.

Originally Thailand planned to open up again in October, which made the likelihood of being able to hold a 3 day event in November - without any restrictions - a possibility. That seems very unlikely now. Even if things are a little better by November and events are allowed again, basic restrictions like compulsory mask wearing would probably still be in place. We know there is no way we can realistically enforce mask wearing or social distancing with 3000+ people, and it would not be responsible to risk it. We also love seeing all your smiling faces, so a masked up festival would not feel very ‘Jai Thep’! We also don't want to encourage people to travel to Chiang Mai and risk spreading Covid.

For these reasons, and also out of respect for those who are being badly affected by the pandemic, we have decided to postpone the next 3 day Jai Thep Festival til November 2022.

Before then, if restrictions lift to the level where people can legally meet and party unmasked, we might be able to hold some smaller 1 day or evening events, fingers crossed! We’ll keep you updated on any small events we are able to hold!

Wherever you are in the world, we hope you can stay safe and we know we’ll see you again!
