Hey Las Vegas!! These flowers are GORGEOUS and I couldn’t be more grateful and honored that delivered these personally. (I would have included her own beauty in photos if I had been dressed, LOL).

My house smells amazing. The colors are vibrant, the blooms are succulent and the arrangement is inspired.

She reached out after some of my medical posts and flower posts and made a connection. I loooooove fresh flowers and Melina has such a flair for what fits people.

She just KNOWS. Like billions of people, I love roses 🌹. But I’m picky about “filler” and greenery and accompanying blooms 💐 🌸. Melina couldn’t have picked better flowers for me. She included lilies (a lot of them, super special to me!) and the smaller flowers are actually something that look and smell great. And you can already see how things will open over time to keep the arrangement fresh looking and “growing” for a long while.

Melina herself is beautiful. She is generous and energetic and just 💫 shines💫. Her smile is genuine. And her passion for what she is doing is true.

Again, thank you, thank you, thank you for thinking of me and being so amazing to share your art and your beauty and your community care. I adore you, !

An amazing meal at by

Post 1: Fantastic flavors with some real surprises. Adore the celebration of vegetables. I already want to go again.

No menu. No plan by the diner. Choose the number of courses and your wine pairing style. Done. They handle everything.

Beautifully presented, a lot of knowledge shared and expert staff that obviously love what they do.

Two ER 🏥 visits this weekend have kicked my ass. Even after a great night attending the Raiders (me)/Niners (cousin) tie in preseason. A fun game to watch. 🏟️

🤒 Then Saturday, I crashed. Hard. The first visit wasn’t amazing and I felt rushed out, going home as sick as I entered. Going back was the smart thing to do. Great care, new cocktail of drugs. Looooove the detail from the doctor. 😷

Than, COVID 🦠 HIT.

A recommendation was made to keep me as an admit - 🤯some heart issues have come up. I promised I have so many appointments this week that I can get recs and tests that way.

♥️ Who has a cardiologist they love that doesn’t take months to get into? ♥️

🗓️ If we have personal appointments this week, let’s chat. I am trying to be available and basing it on energy available to me. I see a lot of sleep. 💤

🎉 Excited to share that I’ll be featured at Picnic in the Alley alongside incredible women from the Vegas community! Join us for a day of celebration on Saturday, September 21 in the Arts District. 🌟

Amazing women talk about food, its stories, its impact, the intersection with community and how to be inclusive and supportive. It’s LIVE, so you can interact with local women deep in multiple areas of our Vegas hospitality orbit.

Conversations have previously covered the importance of women’s contributions to writing and books, equity, the intricacies of Las Vegas’s unique dining and entertainment industry, and how to have a voice for your own visions and for those who may need more support.

And we always bring humor, food and drinks, and our fave places to the talk. You never know where we’ll go!

Thanks for spending a little time with me this week!

It’s Sunday, so it’s time for many to relax before the week really gets busy! As much as I love to travel and learn about other places, Vegas has *so* much to offer when I am looking to kick my feet up and take a load off.

* I love Mt. Charleston. It’s cooler than the Valley and offers camping, picnicking, hiking and walks, and more!

* I am a huge fan of wine tasting and rely on professionals like Kat Thomas the Wine Goddess of ’s.lv and Jessica Dynda .lv of to help me find new faves!

* In the summer heat, I love eating al fresco with friends at places like , eating inspired dishes. I’ll explore seafood with of and . Or indulge in the ambiance of with . Or do a downtown crawl through with , with .bennett.5 and Lina, pizza at with , then go for a beer at with .

Hi! Gemini ♊️ again.

Yesterday I mentioned the Las Vegas culinary industry helped save my life. It’s true! And that’s why I do what I do!

✨ Now… how did I get here? How did I become so deserving to be amongst so many exciting women? ✨

I have a wide breadth of experience but suffice it to say I pushed paper for a long time. I’ve been a Kindergarten 👩‍🏫, a Legal Director ⚖️, and a Business Manager 💻.

I was tired. 😴

When I was well enough to think about working again, I knew I didn’t want to go back to all that.

I wanted to do something creative and community-minded.

I fell back into the networking I had been doing for 10 years within the culinary community. I reached out to creatives such as Picnic in the Alley creator and founder and asked how I could get involved. I worked with her copywriting for projects as well as the beloved Las Vegas Test Kitchen during its tenure.

I reached out to writers ✍️ and photographers 📸 and chefs 👩‍🍳. I worked where I could and however I could to keep making forward momentum…

… mostly seeking out experienced women in various areas of culinary and hospitality.

Today I am grateful and excited to share my dining 🍽️ and travel ✈️ experiences via multiple outlets.

During all of this, I also catered out of my home and started a boutique hot sauce 🌶️ company called ! (It’s being rebuilt as we speak and I am excited to bring it back this Fall/Winter.)

At the first Picnic in the Alley I hosted a welcome cocktail 🍹in front of the stage. Last year, guests received a sample of hot sauce in their picnic bags and I hosted the Chat Room for strong 💪🏻 women deeply rooted in the community.

It went so well we are bringing the Chat Room back this year!

Hi! I’m Gemini!

I am so happy to be taking over the Picnic in the Alley social media feed this week!

The Las Vegas culinary community helped save my life when I was still networking and trying to be a supportive customer in 2015. I am ever grateful that they did because now I get to do so much more to give back!

Not only have I worked with Picnic in the Alley for all three events, I cohost a podcast about the Vegas culinary scene, I manage an online news site about everything Vegas eats and drinks, I write for a westside magazine, and more! (More about my history this week.)

The Picnic in the Alley event is my favorite culinary event because I get to help other amazing women promote their strength, creativity, ambition and community relationships. AND knowing we’re helping the is a bonus!

Did you know that 50% of culinary graduates are women but only 7% of head chef’s and restaurant owners are women? The Women’s Hospitality Initiative is for EVERYONE to learn more about supporting women in all places in culinary. It feeds our goal: BY WOMEN, FOR EVERYONE!
