Today marks the International Day of Charity.
Are you considering ways to weave charity into your wedding celebration? We have plenty of ideas to inspire you: set up a charitable registry; replace traditional wedding favors with donations; organise a fundraising activity during your reception; select a nonprofit venue instead of a typical registry, or contribute leftover food and flowers to community organisations. You might also invite guests to bring donations to your shower or choose vendors who support charitable initiatives. The possibilities are truly endless!
Before the Wedding: Opt for a charity registry instead of a bridal registry.
For the Shower or Bachelorette Party: Include a volunteer activity in your pre-wedding events, such as helping at a soup kitchen or gathering canned goods for a food bank.
During the Wedding: Consider charitable favors by making donations in your guests’ names to causes close to your heart instead of handing out traditional favors. Alternatively, host a silent auction or set up a charity photo booth at the reception. Create an Information Station at your wedding to share details about your chosen charity, educating guests and encouraging contributions.
After the Wedding: Donate any leftover food to a local food bank and arrange for your flowers to be delivered to nursing homes or hospitals. You can also donate your wedding dress or accessories to charities that assist brides who cannot afford new attire.
