Like so many on this platform, and around the world, Erin at has inspired so much of my flower growing journey. She’s led the way for so many growers who limited themselves because of lack of knowledge or resources, lack of confidence or growing space. She told us all that we could when we thought we were imposters. I took her course in 2019, and it truly ignited something inside me that has continued to fuel me 5 years later. If you had told the girl who was on her 5th tray of snapdragons not germinating, that she would be standing in the middle of her flower field surrounded by thousands of plants on her farm, she wouldn’t have believed you. I buy Floret seeds every winter when they come out. These beauties are a part of our beginning and I’m so happy to have them on the farm year after year. These dahlias are from Floret’s bee’s choice mix. Thanks, Erin, for inspiring me and so many.

Sunflowers are about to make a big appearance with another succession on the way! So many unique varieties. I’m loving these more moody sunnies. The first flower of the season. It’s hard to describe the feeling I get when I see the first one emerge. It’s more like a mix of emotions- Excitement, relief, wonderment, nervousness. I feel like I can breathe easier knowing that they’re going to bloom, but then again I’m nervous because you never know what’s going to happen in farming. The flowers are so tiny right now, and it amazes me, year after year, how they grow 10x the size they are now in just a matter of weeks. This field is going to be bursting at the seams with so much beauty in a short amount of time, and it makes me so happy to think of all the places these flowers will travel to, how many smiles they might put on faces, or how they might pick someone up when they need it. Nature and flowers are truly a gift. I used to feel like I had so much riding on this season, but I’ve realized that the flowers will grow and be beautiful regardless. They don’t perform based on my business plans or ambitions, so I’ve stopped pressuring myself so much, and I’m learning to just enjoy the process all over again. 🌾
