Our Story

HOUSEofAFRIKA are the founders of the Afro-tinged House Music sound in the UAE. Originally held at the now legendary Friday nights at The Dekon8, Media One Hotel, the night attracted a dedicated energetic & colorful crowd with a inviting house music policy that resonated with people who were looking for connection and unity in that ‘deep afro house sound’.

With regular acts such as Black Coffee, Goldfish, Culoe De Song, Mi Casa, Black Motion, Osunlade, Boddhi Satva, Crazy White Boy, JoJo Flores (Therapy, Montreal) & Atjazz at their weekly residency, they got awarded the ‘Highly Recommended Club Night’ in the TimeOut Nightlife Awards & Top 3 Club Nights of What’s On Award in 2014 alongside being shortlisted as 'Best House Night' by TimeOut & Hype Magazine in 2015 - 2016.

From there HOUSEofAFRIKA expanded onto various other projects: HOUSEofAFRIKA DOHA, a monthly night in Doha as well as hosting several Comedy Jam’s & 'Live Sessions with bands Prime Circle, Jeremy Loops, Jack Parow, Arno Carsten, Mendoza & Francois van Coke. HOUSEofAFRIKA is also the brain child behind the #BraaiDayDXB concept, inviting South Africa’s Rainbow Nation to enjoy a day of “Braaing” aka grilling at Emirates Golf Club. Since then #BraaiDayDXB has grown to 'TheBig BBQ Social', inviting all nationalities from around the world top experience the family fun day of music, kids entertainment & more.

In 2018 HoA branched out to ‘SUNRISERS’. An early morning event from 6am-9am that includes music, movement & art in the shape of starting your morning with meditation, moving on the yoga, exercise, art & fun & more.
