Chandigarh based Food and Lifestyle Photographer. Why the name MuddyChoux? Growing up I had a fairly uncommon name and people always mispronounced it.

After having run this page as The Pink CakeBox, a Chandigarh based customized cake and cupcake baking business, I have launched my photography brand under the label MuddyChoux Photography after moving to Dallas, Texas. I have heard many variations of my name (including Somalia, the country), but the most common was shoe-mela, which in Hindi translates to a dirty/muddy shoe. And thats how one of my

friends’ husband nicknamed me as. Since my main focus in photography has been on food, I thought Muddy Choux (which is a play on my name and related to food – choux pastry in particular) would be apt for my photography brand. A lot of credit for the name goes to my friend Ruchi who suggested using muddy instead of dirty since that has a chocolate connotation to it and well, sounds better. Coincidentally, her husband is the one who nicknamed me Dirty Shoe. At the moment I am not taking any more baking orders, but I hope to soon. Till then I will be concentrating on photography (mostly of food) and occasionally will post recipes from my blog . You can read more about me and my recipes on www.novicehousewife.com

This was me, on repeat yesterday. I love momos/dumplings and honestly can eat them for every meal. They can be a pain to make from scratch though. They are not difficult to make, but they are definitely time consuming. Rolling the dough to a nice thin consistency can take time. Thankfully these days I have a pasta maker which helps me, but it still takes time. The results though are absolutely worth it! The recipe for these steamed chicken momos is in the blog archives. These days I add a little sesame oil to the filling and that gives these momos a lovely flavor. I have a longer version of this video which shows me shaping the momos, I am yet to edit it but will share soon. ___________________

Today was a tiring day, but I got to try something new and got the chance to work with some enterprising women. Now I am vegetating and watching dawn of the dead- I am a sucker for zombie movies! The video and recipe for the panna cotta with toasted oat crumble and roasted peaches that @anubhav_sood and I shot is up on the blog. I love the different textures in this dessert. The slightly tart yet sweet toasted peaches complement the creamy and light panna cotta. The toasted oat crumble gives a crunchy texture. The garnish of fresh mint leaves on top lends the much needed freshness in any summer dessert.
